I have a friend of mine that received a Slim 120 Gb last month. He won it in a drawing. Problem is this morning it stopped working, it seems like it is the power supply. We tried swapping things around with my Slim to see if we could get it fixed but no luck. My question is there is no way he can get a receipt for this and I've heard Sony will not fix their systems without a receipt. Does anyone have any experience getting Sony to fix a system without a receipt? Maybe they always do and I just heard wrong? Thanks in advance for your help.

why not let him claim warranty under your receipt? they're the exact same model sony won't know , HELOO common sense

Lol listen kid these guys are just messing with you only because many are experienced in taking these devices apart would know how to diagnose any mistake they have made, if you have the time I suggest taking everything apart again making sure you did'nt leave any wire unplugged or damaged during reassembly, and do some research for the proper posistioning of the gears, Btw I discovered a quick method of servicing the lens just remove the top white magnetic disc and insert a qtip damped wtih a cleaning solution down that hole (you can see the lens from there , no need to remove the black cover). peace and good luck .

not the end of game console no way!!!, but the beginning of the end of media format altogether, pretty soon you'll download movies instead of buy then off shelves(or maby even buy online card similar to psn points).

5 hours talk time w/ the sony headset , vs the 2< talk time with most regular headsets, research talk time on a headset you want mine will only last 2 hours, and then i'll have to finish the game with out chat :(

LoL I was just paranoid from watching a video that shows the main cause of ylod , and I thought those rice krispie sounds were the actually soldering coming apart my bad on the a different note I've read a few post of some 160gb models getting the ylod which is based off the same platform as my silver trim 80gb , so I don't feel safe yet.

Im afraid i might have premature failure, everytime i power off my ps3 I hear a snap , crackle, pop comming from the system and can only worry my motherboard is having a thermal shock , doe's anyone else hear noises coming from their ps3 while it's cooling off, or heating up?
