@Grenadeh It was the core fans that put the game in this direction. The impact of GTA3 made RE4 popular, and so the PS era mechanics were abandoned forever.

It's my view that zombie provide a guilt-free kill. They represent everything about a person except a person's individuality and personality. Guilt-free kills mean that we get the gore, the satisfaction but without the niggling worry that we're a psychopath.
