Dark Souls was launched on the PC to glowing reviews (8.5 on metacritic). It got a 9.5 here on Gamespot and anybody questioning the quality of the port was instantly shot down by fanboys in the forum threads.
Now even From Software admits it was a lousy port. Half-assed indeed.
@inebriantia @joke_man Yeah. In the linked article those three games are specifically mentioned as part of the reason for the "extraordinary loss" in revenue.
Why all the rage? LucasArts has not produced anything good in-house in over 10 years. And the collaboration with other developers? Kinect Star Wars? Force unleashed? SWTOR? (Tales of Monkey Island is an exception though)
Who is to say that Disney won't licence KOTOR to Obsidian to make the game we all want: KOTOR 3. Now that would be something!
I think this is sad news. Square Enix has actually done the opposite of EA - they've tried not to be evil.
Sleeping Dogs, Tomb Raider and Hitman: Absolution are all games where Squenix has backed off and supported the developers. United Front Games even said they where supportive when they wanted to make a higher-quality PC version of Sleeping Dogs. They played nice but in the end it didn't pay off.
Oh well. Guess this means massive layoffs and focusing on producing crap that sells to the average gamer. Or maybe another MMO.
Hear, hear. This and the interview with Karl Slatoff from Take-Two Interactive today here on Gamespot seems to indicate a need from the industry to correct the impression created by the media that the core gaming industry is dying because of new business models and the new emerging platforms.
CD Project Red will never turn into post-EA Bioware. Cyberpunk is gonna be great!
BTW: Pointing out the obvious here, but by doing this CD Project Red will have a fantasy and a sci-fi franchise just like Bethesda and BioCrap before them.
To all those mentioning Shadowrun: As I understand it Cyberpunk will be based upon the pen-and-paper RPG with the same name. So there will be no magic, dwarves, elves etc. Of course both draw from the same inspirations. Just hope they rewrite the timeline (I think the timeline in Cyberpunk 2020 start in the early 90s or something), so we don't get an alternative reality like in the Fallout series. I really, really, really want a realistic, dark sci-fi-noir RPG set in the near future.
Yes, yes, no different - if it weren't for the fact that Smurf Village is an elaborate scam that target kids to get into their parents wallets: If your going to let your kid play this game on your iPhone/iPad - with no intention of letting them buy smurf berries - and enter your password to your iTunes account (to dowload an update or whatever) before you hand it over, they're free to buy smurf berries to their hearts content within the next 15 minutes. And the game make damn sure that a prompt for buying berries pops up all the time - you can hardly blame a 5 year old for clicking it.
