2) Yes, using the PS3 as a blu-ray player will, indeed, decrease it's life spam. Don't ever forget that the PS3 is still a machine. The more you use it,faster it will show problems.

3) there is no problem. Ver or Hor. You may choose the one you like most. It will work perfectely in both!
