i still play it but noticed this last weekend it began to lose it's luster. Tired of seeing the crap Pokemon pop up all the time and don't even bother at this point. I'm level 12 and can't even take a gym yet. Some of the people i'm sure are paying good money to power up their Pokemon to remain on top.
I see myself slowly opening the app less and less. it's to be expected though. Same thing happened to me with Clash of Clans and Clash Royale.
No it will not die out anytime soon. Imagine Pokemon GO VR and endless expansion options..
It's even capturing people who are not much familiar with Pokemon... such as myself. I was a gamer all my life but for some reason or other skipped right over the Pokemon generation back in the 90s. Now I play Pokemon GO with my 7 year old son at the park or downtown and have so much fun. We see people dropping Lures, catching pokemon, challenging Pokemon gyms, and a community having fun together all at the same time.
Very strange to think the very country that brought us Pokemon back in the day are getting the roll-out last. Goes to show you how cultures change along with interests. Someone has a sales figure showing US with much more interest than Japan
@themacaster96: The console could be called Nintendo VC (virtual console) and have the capability to house the entire backlog up through Gamecube. I'd be all over that.
