I am indifferent on the subject, the way I see it.. The drugs we already have legalized in market are actually chemically addictive and just as harmful if not more so.. It makes little sense why pot would be illegal on this front.sSubZerOo

exellent point. just because you prescription drugs and over the counter pills are available and (obviously) legal does not mean that they are not bad for you at all. In fact many of these pills have addictive properties that will put you through a withdrawal like no other if you abuse them.

anyone ever heard of benzos? they are a prescription drug that is used for treating anxiety. when people decide to quit they literally have panic attacks where they fear for there life and you dont even have to abuse the drug in order for these effects to occur.

all of you have the same loser mentality. "move on...find another girl...forget her...bla bla bla"

Ill tell you what you should do. Get her alone and tell her why you are a better man for her than her current bf. this will esp work if you can see that he is a tool, doesnt appreciate her like you would.

KungfuKitten

Hey You wouldn't want someone to take away Your girl either. I just don't like all that competitiveness. Love is not about hurting each other >_> If they like each other let them be. Just my opinion of course.

i agree. so out of respect for the other guy, try to get her if its obvious hes a tool.

I'm not against marijuana use. I'm against marijuana users; they're annoyingly vocal about getting high. I never felt the need to shout it at everyone when I was young and experimenting with drugs.DJ_Lae

this is just an example of how dumb your peers are. I never tell anyone that i have smoked because i feel it is extremely irresponsible to blame your actions on weed. You simply just do not do it.

the types of people that you decribes also think its "cool" to smoke. This is stupid behavior that also pisses me off.

DONT come crawling back to the public health care system claiming it wont support you because you've blown all your money on funding your drug habits. When I rule my country, there will be NO healthcare support for those who abuse drugs - with the exception of alcohol. You sir, are someone I feel sorry for. Go out and do something useful with your life. the_kidisblack

these generalizations will get you no where. have fun being brainwashed by our DARE program, and growing up to work a 9-5 job in a tiny cubicle because you never were able to think outside the box.

and saying that there will be no healthcare exemptions for drug users but alcohol? are you serious? do you realize that NO ONE has ever died from marijuana, yet people die everyday from alcohol, whether it be alcohol poisoning or driving drunk which also kills many innocent people.

who are you to feel sorry for me? I live a great life. My family tree consists of hardworking, cannabis smoking contributors to our society. I will follow those footsteps. So how dare you judge me without even knowing who i am. It is you, so oblivious and ignorant to everything in life, that i feel sorry for.

Because all stats aside, most of the people who use it are gonna end up as stupid, dumb ****s

Plus intoxication in any shape or form is pretty bad. imo.

supa_badman

thats completely false. my dad is living proof that marijuana doesnt make you an idiot. He is worth millions. nearly all of yalls parents have smoked, you just never realized it. Are they failures?

some of my best friends have parents that STILL smoke. My friends dad made a computer programming startup company which he sold for millions, all while smoking weed. ITS NOT BAD IF YOU DONT ABUSE IT

these are true stories, i see no point in lying on the internet.

You're kind of right...tobacco is the #1 cause of preventable death in the US and alcohol also has a wide variety of negative effects. But marijuana probably isn't as "safe" as you like to think it is:

1. MJ smoke contains 50-70% more carcinogens than cigarette smoke. However, tobacco is much more addictive due to frequent nicotine binding to acetylcholine receptors in the brain. When nicotine binds, dopamine is released and you feel good for a brief period of time. Unfortunately this leads to a high addiction/dependence rate among users and because they use so much, the risk of cancer and other adverse effects (mainly cardiovascular) increases. MJ doesn't have the same pleasing effect as a cigarette, but if you use a ridiculous amount over a long enough timeline you'll still have a signficant risk for cancer.

2. It greatly impairs your ability to form memories, recall events and switch attention quickly (important while driving...). The memory alteration is caused by THC binding to cannabanoid receptors in the hippocampus and blocking the normal transmission of neurotransmitters at these synapses.

3. Using any time before the age of 25 significantly decreases the ability to think. It decreases your planning skills, sequencing, attention and motor speed due to your brain still growing...I'd go into the details of these studies, but I'll spare the boredom.

This is why I'm against marijuana use. I'm typically against anything that has negative effects on my mind and body.

I hope it's what you're looking for...

aka_Static

i used to smoke weed all the time. Now I ahve been able to moderate my use and its a lot better. i dont smoke out of boredom any more and never because of that "man i really need some weed right now" feeling.

as for your stats, i think amny people confuse the marijuana leaf with the bud. the leaf itself has more carcinogens than tobacco, but the bud only has like 30% as many carcinogens as tobacco. also, weed smokers dont need to smoke nearly as much as cigarete users.

its important that marijuana smokers not take the "its completely harmelss" approach because that is not true either. research your stuff, i recomend erowid.com

[QUOTE="GettingTired"][QUOTE="flazzle"]

I've never smoked it, thus I never experienced the high.

Would being high impair someone's judgement/skills?

Like, do you think it would be safe to have someone drive or flying an airplane high? I honestly don't know and I'm not trying to start an argument.

InEMplease

Driving high isn't like driving drunk. I'm not saying driving stoned is responsible, but a drunk driver is far, far more dangerous.

Yeah. It just really messes up your reaction speed and if anything, you're over-cautious because you're paranoid about driving high...enlightened.

Not the best experience in the world.

i drive after smoking all the time. it does not affect my driving at all, however i do think that its not a good example that i set because some people handle marijuana much differently than others.
