 I'm not saying you need to be a total gentleman. You just need to be a smooth talker with something interesting to say and you're already increasing your chances if you're not an underwear model. I'm not saying that a hermit who specializes in Shakespeare is going to "get" woman -- he's not. I was trying to be a little broad, rather than limiting myself to the lowest common denominator.

 One of my best friends is (well, was for 3 years) a solid example of this. I knew some of my female friends thought he was "kind of ugly." But he knows how to talk around women and he went out with one of my "hot" friends for three years. When I introduced the two, she talked to him non-stop that day and they started dating after a month.

I'm not trying to prove my opinion right or wrong, but I've formed it after seeing and experiencing it. The relationships I regret are the ones that fell flat because I couldn't communicate properly (or she couldn't). Again, if I'm talking to someone who doesn't have anything interesting to say, I'm not going to waste my time on her. (Sure, I'll linger a bit longer if she's cute, but I'm not going to let her blabber for long.)

I will agree that girls won't take interest if they're not physically attracted, but your chances are totally shot if you can't talk something smooth.

I'm being absolutely honest in saying that I'm more attracted to girls (that are "average" looking) that can hold conversation that's interesting rather than super cute girls who can only bounce jokes back and forth. If you get into a real relationship, communication will give it legs. That's my opinion, at least.
