Atomic Number = Protons which = Electrons I believe
Subract Atomic Number from Atomic mass to get the number of neutrons.
Google up a periodic table. This isn't hard with a little googling.

yea I know that part, but Im not sure what an atomic symbol is. Its not mentioned in my text book, so I was wondering if its just another name for the mass number?
i'll tell you all i know about it. no, the atomic symbol is like H for hydrogen. the atomic mass = the number of protons + neutrons. the atomic number is determined by the number of protons in an atom. and if someone can answer MY question, how can you find the number of electrons in an atom? its the one thing im not sure of.
The number of electrons is equal to the number of protons, unless it is an ion of course, but then it would be marked so.
thanks. the only reason i asked is cause i was given a worksheet that told me to identify which ion was negative, and which one was not. and of course, proton and electron quantities had to differ. i also see wherethe other person posted theirs. i was too late. one more question: are there any ions on the periodic table?

i am religious, brought up as religious. if i were to even think about turning atheist/agnostic however, (which i never have and never will) my family would probably put me up for adoption or something. thats how religious they are.

Jeez, that's kind of scary. I think parents should let their children explore different religions and not force-feed them religion from birth, but that's just my oppinion.
no its not like im brainwashed. BTW sorry about my doubly post; my computer is queer :Pi was just heavily influenced. i wont bash your opinion, though i dont completely agree with it. if i ever have kids, i will make sure they are religious just like me. i really dont care about other people, in fact i have a few atheist friends myself. one slight problem i may face though, is that the last name that i carry of my dads is baptist, though i am catholic from my mothers side of the family. oh well, i still got years to think about it though.
