It could work, in theory, but I don't see it happening. The business reason pokemon works is because there are always at least 2 versions of the game, then as soon as you finish that version, a new one comes out with enhanced features. A single game that combines everything together would kill the series as we know it.

If there was some multiplayer instances, and an option to battle people anyway you wished (without friend codes) and at least 2 versions of the game, that might work out better and actually be pretty good.

Someone posted this interesting little tidbit on the DS forums. I thought it would be relevant here :)

TBH there is probably going to be a UK/Europe event soon, so you could always wait for that.

If not, try the codes.

I'm going to have to go ahead and mention my favorite game for the DS, Metroid Prime:Hunters. The controls are a bit complicated but you can easily explain them to your friends if they're willing to listen.

Mariokart DS is also great. Dokupon is okay, but I wouldn't know because I've only played it like twice. Starfox Command, although kind of a crap game imo, has a fun local multiplayer.

do you know of a good site for me to read up on pokemon before i try out one of the new games.cttooch

http://serebii.net/

This is probably the most used site on the internet for this sort of thing. It has EVERYTHING pokemon, so be expected to run into plenty of anime and TCG stuff along with game updates. If you want to learn about the games, they are on the left hand side of the main page.

I'd also like to give my two cents about competetive battling. I got into it, but gave it up once I realized that most of my opponents were either:

1: Kids who didn't know how to play competetively.

2: 20something year olds who don't work, live with their parents and spend the majority of their time playing Pokemon.

^Now this does not apply to everyone, obviously, but I really don't feel comfortable playing with people who treat a kids game like it's a religion. I don't care how much depth the battle system has or how much customization the game has to offer: the game is still directed at the 7-13 year old demographic and they are the primary customers. That doesn't mean that only kids can enjoy the game. Lots of people of all ages enjoy pokemon. It just means that it's made primarily for kids, and I couldn't feel comfortable being around a bunch of people who take it waaaaay too seriously.

HEY LOOK AT ME YOU GUYS, DO THESE PICTURES MAKE ME SEEM FUNNY, WITTY AND IN TOUCH WITH POPULAR CULTURE?

Oh so now they are just "similar". Boy, oh boy. Watch out because you might bump into a wall if you keep backpedalling like that.gacs_25

Give it a rest. It's not worth getting worked up about :(

The DSi, at this point, only has a few DLC games for it's exclusives, mostly puzzle or brain-training type games, and the only reason they're DSi exclusive is because they're only available through the DSishop, not because they're too powerful to play on the older system. If they were made available, you could download the exact same games with the DS/DSlite download station, exception of course being camera central games. The GBC had many full fledged games as exclusives, and they were all fully developed, cartridge based games. It was quite a bit more powerful than the GB pocket, powerful enough to be it's own system. The games you could play on the GBC you couldn't play on the GB, with a few exceptions. The GBC was NOT the same basic system it's predecessor was.
