I remember renting the first one from Blockbuster, and loving it so much that I bought it with my very first paycheck from my very first job, even though I was literally at the final boss. Such a great game. I stayed up so many nights trying to beat all the secret missions and exploring every inch of the castle. Has it really been 16 years already? Holy shit!
Gran Turismo was so great for the first 3 games. GT took me by surprise, and GT2 raised the bar even higher. GT3 is one of the best racing games ever made. After that, though, Kaz and Polyphony got settled into their groove and simply refused to budge. That's the problem with Polyphony: they're content staying the course and only making small tweaks. While others have evolved and released better, more refined products, Polyphony just kept the cruise control on and waved as their competition passed them. They have the same issue that Sonic Team and EA Tiburon do: they simply won't listen to what the fans want.
@moonco: I could see that since it's an aim-heavy game. Something like Paragon, I destroy PC players all day, because I'm a tricky bastard with my movements.
I see this trend continuing. Nintendo has several heavy hitters coming yet in 2017. We got Mario Odyssey, FE Warriors, Pokken, and Xenoblade 2. The Switch has possibly the best first year lineup in video game history.
