I haven't written a blog in some time. Not that I haven't had a lot to say or that my life is boring, right now. I was looking for something special to do on my 500th blog. The only thing I could come up is this that you are all about to read.
I remember when I first came to GameSpot and suscribe. I used my name to do it. No alias or user names. Just my name. October 8th, 2006. That's what it says there. But I never started to truly write blogs until one year later, when I got my XBOX 360. I had the chance to go around many of my past blog posts. I can't believe how much things have changed... For good and, unfortunatelly, for bad.
The main reason to write this blog is to let you know what I love about videogames and what they gave me during my lifetime. I can make this quick: Games are amazing. Just like that but there are some details that made games not only entertainment... They were part of my life.
The most productive thing I got from games was learning another language. Back in the day (NES, SNES, N64) it was almost impossible to think about a translated or subtitled game. SO we were pretty much in the need to learn english in order to fully enjoy a game. This was not always the case: Most people rather played games that didn't need a lot of english. Since I was a fan of RPG's and adventure games, I had to do it. Games were a way of practice.
Also, I love games because they are actually like watching a movie or reading a book. When we didn't have the huge graphics and cinematics that we do today, you had to imagine how some displays would look in real life. That was creativiy and imagination. Now, even if we can see it, we can't avoid to get immersive during some moments. I like to think about all the times I enjoyed finishing a game or get some nice surprises.
ANother thing I love about games is the people I've met thanks to it. When I was younger, a lot of my friends had their consoles and some times we got together just to play certain game someone bought. Now, it's even easier to make ffriends thanks to technology. And of course, it is cool to have friends to discuss not only about games, but everything else.
That's where GameSpot comes. I remember when I started to blog on this site. Not many people would comment but as long as I kept writing and commenting I got some friends and suddenly I was part of a very special group of people. Unfortunatelly, most of that people is gone from the site or barely visit it but we still keep in touch by other means (Facebook or even playing on XBOX Live). Among other people, I've met a lot of other special people that are still here which I appreciate since I certainly consider them my friends.
I am sure that everyone reading this blog is part of that group. It is always cool to realize that games put us together and that we can keep talking about other non-gaming related topics with full confidence. I really think that is one of the best things that GameSpot has given me during my five year tenure.
I've not been around as much as before since I am a busy man and I don't have many things to say recently, but you I am always wandering your blogs just to make sure everything is ok with you. I don't comment in every of them because I hate to put comments just because I HAVE TO. "That's cool, bro" "Congrats". I am trying to quit that.
So this 500th post is dedicated to everything great that gaming has brought to me, and on that you can include everyone who takes the time to read my blog, everyone who I consider a friend (I am not mentioning them because I am always afraid to miss someone, but I am pretty sure you know who you all are), and all those who are gone from the site, but are remembered... thanks for being here and hope you keep coming to this humble blog.
I will be around bashing about your selections for GOTY when it is not the same as mine, so I hope you get your Xmas preparations and shopping ready. I know I will...
Thanks for 500th blogs, GameSpot.
