...what? Half life 2 is on the source engine, the best optimized engine out there. Most decent machines can run it high fps looking twice as good as an x-box

Considering he mentioned video quality we must assume he's speaking of the 360 version which has hdr and updated shadows. There is the cinematic mod for pc but i think shadows and hdr can do more for graphics than better textures. Too bad 360 version is stuck at 30fps.

As far as lag I think he means the stutterbug. Which plague all source games. Although not nearly as bad as when HL2 was first released.

The tiny levels help quite a bit in making HL2 look well optimized.
