So wait, it deals with the Blue Pack? If I find a Tekken Tag Tournament without a blue back then it would work?
I'm with you dude. Nobody buys a football game because they have the "Create a sign" feature.[QUOTE="blackngold29"][QUOTE="mrvic87"]Give me more of football gameplay and less gimmicks/icons/bells/whistles, I'd buy it, no questions asked. manningbowl135
Personally I can never play a football game without original rosters. I'm ashamed to admit it but if backbreaker turns out 10x more awesome than madden 09, I'd probably buy madden to play with the rookies and my favorite players. Sports games are nothing to me without the actual athletes.
Yeah, I totally Understand what your saying. Last year's Madden was tolerable as far as playing, but after a few months I went back to playing NFL 2K5 (with updated rosters of course). My only issue with Madden last year was the QB Animations. I think they should work on Signature style with quarterbacks, similar to how NBA 2K does it with custom shots. Maybe they will do that this year.
[QUOTE="jeff89jdf"]its a monopoly, should be illegal, competition is good 4 gaming then they cant keep releasing same game w/ updated rosters and leader boards and expect it 2 sell like hotcakesLOEAnubis
It's not a monopoly. It's a service agreement. A monopoly would mean that EA is making it so no one anywhere can make a football game. That would be a monopoly. A private organization has every right to allow or disallow a company to use their names and descriptions, or in this case sign an exclusivity contract with one company. For the last time, it is not a monopoly.
And as far as making a game with city names and colors, that's just fine. That's what NHLPA '93 did. You didn't have the Rangers and Islanders (both New York, hence the example) you had New York (red and blue, Rangers) and Long Island (blue and orange, Islanders) and there were no problems. City names are not the protected part of the team names, so you can have a New York team with red and blue (Giants) and a New Jersey (I think that's what Madden '92 or '93 called them) team with white and green jerseys. The problem is, 2K didn't focus on that and instead made a game that focused on the legends... and had other problems too but I'm getting into that.
The long and short of it, any company can make a football game with the city names and colors of the teams, the only thing they can't use is the team names (Patriots, Steelers, Dolphins, etc...) the logos, and the player names which are held in concert with the NFLPA. Tecmo, Midway, 2K, heck anyone can make a football game, the question is, will people buy it?
You can't put it any better!
This reminds me of the Dave Chapelle skit when he said somebody owned the color blue. They could probably make the jerseys a little brighter or darker than they normally would be. They could just copy Joe Montana 94, and make some of the teams have off colors, but keep the player numbers the same as my example below shows:

Correction, that snapshot is from Joe Montana NFL Sports Talk 2 which was circa 92.
