Yes thats right, apparently the bishop thought it was disgraceful for the game to be based around killing people in his cathedral. I find a few things wrong with this so i shall list them.
1) It isn't based ont he cathedral, its a small part of the game
2) It is NOT humans being killed it's aliens
3) ITS A VIDEO GAME!!!!!!!! in case i am not being clear enough, IT IS NOT REALITY
Apparently the church also claims the game undermines all the work they do, can you please explain this? How is it undermining your work? ITS A GAME - "not reality" it is not undermining your work. As for this:
"We are shocked to see a place of learning, prayer and heritage being presented to the youth market as a location where guns can be fired."
well yet again i make my point, its a videogame - NOT REALITY, no sane person will just come along and fire guns in your church just because it is in a game.
I seen a report on this a couple minutes ago on tv by the BBC (updated due to information on the bbc site) so i don't have much information but they got a woman called patsy McKie from MAV (Mothers Against Violence) Who basicly said something along the lines of (i wasn't really paying attention to her but i got the basic idea of what she said) there isn't just war being fought in iraq but there is a war being fought here and violent/action games should be taken away so they cant affect young peoples minds. I quote from the news source on the bbc website(by patsy):
"I believe it's something that needs to be taken seriously first by the Church but also by parents."
Why....it's a game sure at least the church can say something since it's their church but why parents? Really i don't see the need for it to be taken seriously by parents? What has it possibly got to do with parents? If the child isn't old enough to tolerate some violence in games don't let your child get the game! Also if you want this game taken seriously then you may as well go make every other shooter game a serious matter.
I have something to say to this woman, go away - please just go away, now.
They are out to get this game taken off the market but since this game is a best seller for the PS3 i do not see that happening and this whole incident will probably just drag the churches image down in the minds of a lot of gamers.
