@freeryu: They do get a cut of the profit. It's called a salary. If they want an extra cut on top of that, then they should also be on the hook if the company loses money. Fair is fair, right? I think if you gave devs the choice between a stable guaranteed income and one that is tied to the profits, most would choose the guaranteed salary.
