I have a 19" CRT monitor and the following resolutions are:

640x480 @ 148Hz.
800x600 132Hz.
1024x768 106Hz.
1280x1024 80Hz.
1600x1200 68Hz.
1792x1344 61Hz.

I know that 60Hz will strain your eyes, but I was wondering if 68Hz is acceptable? By the way, 1280x1024 is the native res.

Umm hate to break it to you, but virtually all games experience FPS drops. No game will give you a constant framerate, it's always fluctuating. I think your intended question was "What resolution should I use to get the best framerate and image quality?"

So far, the 8800GTS 320MB can handle every game at 1600x1200 max settings.

Oh and I forgot to mention. I believe I read somewhere that said you need certain motherboards AND Vista 64 bit in order to see all 4GB, which further adds to the hassle of buying Vista.

I'm planning on buying a gaming system soon along with Vista, but thought about the following issues.

It appears that a growing number of people are starting to believe that 2GB RAM is slowly becoming outdated, and that a 4GB upgrade will be needed soon. This is because they claim there are current games coming out that will use 2GB as the MINIMUM (don't know which games). They also say that even with 2GB, they do notice slight stuttering/loading problems in newer games like Bioshock, therefore a 4GB upgrade may be needed.

So now, the problem I have is, if I have to upgrade to 4GB ram, I'd have to buy Vista 64 bit, but I heard that it has compatibility issues because certain hardware/software don't have 64 bit support yet. At the same time, I can't use 4GB on Vista 32 bit because it only recognizes ~3.15 GB or something. I think someone stated that even though it only sees 3.15GB, it WILL use all 4GB, don't know if that's true.

To sum it up, I can't get Vista 64bit because of compatibilty issues, can't get Vista 32 bit because it won't recognize all 4GB. So do you guys think I should wait a bit longer until 64 bit becomes more mainstream? Or can someone verify for me that I will see a benefit in using 4GB in 32 bit Vista?
