strieeyes Blog

By Request....

I happened to pop on to here today and noticed that it has been a loooong time since I blogged. I am sure that many of you have been breathlessly anticipating my next entry, and to you I say, "Wait no more!"

My last entry had to do with the dreadful display by my second favorite sports team, the New York Giants. We all know how that season ended up. So lets move on to my favorite sports team, the currently-in-first-place New York Yankees. Shhh shhh, I can hear the boos already. LOL I won't go into too much detail, but it is about time that this team got it going, and I don't care what anyone says I refuse to say it is all because of A-Rod. I still dislike him greatly (can't bring myself to say I hate a Yankee).

So that new season has been keeping me occupied, as well as reading some really good books (the King Raven trilogy was epic) recently, and catching up with the first season of True Blood just in time for the second season to start in about a week and a half.

Oh yeah, there are games too. :)

I decided to keep this one short but sweet. I miss you guys, what are you up to these days?

Ugh...

In response to last night's Giants vs. Cowboy's game please refer back to my Ocotber 14th blog... Change all mention of the "Browns" to the "Cowboys"....

Atrocity

For all of you that know me, know that I am a huge Giants fan.

Nothing made me happier than seeing my team on the Monday Night Football schedule for last night against the Cleveland Browns. Yep, a national audience, where the G-Men could show what they were really made of. The big stage. Also a huge opportunity to put serious space between them and the Cowboys and Redskin, who had lost on Sunday.

Everyone had finally jumped on their bandwagon. All the talking heads a.k.a. the media were saying how they are the best team in the NFL. This will be a blowout game. The Giants are unstoppable, blah, blah, blah.

It was to be a blowout alright...

Instead we showed the nation what this team looked like in 2006. What the heck happened here? Eli 2006 showed up when we were all looking forward to seeing Eli 2008, or even Eli late 2007. 3 interceptions? He looked lost and confused, much like he did in '05 and '06.

This game was an atrocious, sloppy, horrid, deplorable mess of a football game. The Browns did all that they could to help the Giants by continuing to make stupid penalty after stupid penalty. But the Giants D would just turn around and give up the big pass in return.

Where was Ahmad Bradshaw? Dominik Hixson? Armani Toomer? Kevin Boss? All Eli saw was Steve Smith (who was one of the few stars for the Giants last night) and Burress. Welcome back Plaxico.

I have no problem with the fact that the Giants lost. Hey, we all knew this was not going to be a perfect season. And I always thought that the Browns were a good team that got off to a bad start. But this was an ugly loss. This was a game that looks like an NFL team took on a Pop Warner team.

I believe that this is a one time thing for my team. And in 6 days they can come back out and redeem themselves. But after losing my voice watching that horrendous display, I just had to vent a bit.

Off the bandwagon boys, we play better when we are underestimated, and made to be underdogs. I am sure by now the media has gone back to it's original stance that the Giants were a fluke, and all of that.

Thank you for listening...

I laughed so hard, I cried!

I just rickrolled a bunch of my friends cell phones! LOL

I was aimlessly searching around on the internet when I found a website that sends out rickrolls to cell phone numbers. You should have seen the text messages that I got aftwrwards!

"My phone wuz just rickrolled!"

"Why is Rick Astley singing to me?"

"I know that wuz you!"

I was laughing so hard, I swear, tears cameto my eyes. Some of my co-workers came over asking me what was so funny.

Has anyone gotten you yet?

Burger King King

Am I the only one who finds him super creepy? Remember the one commercial where the guy wakes up, pulls his shade up, and there is the King? He gives me nightmares, and now there is even a Halloween costume of him. I may have to lock myself in my home on October 31st.!

Are You Ready for Some Football???

Football is back. Yeah, I know I am a little late with the post, and yes, I know that it is only preseason. But, there is something comforting to me knowing that on any given Sunday I can turn on my TV and see The Big Blue again.

Do they have a repeat in them? Of course as a fan I think so, but who really knows. They made some moves in the off season that made me happy (bye bye Shockey), but nothing too huge. I guess they felt this team won the Super Bowl, why mess with success?

I am concerned a bit with Manningham, seriously... he scored a 6 on the intelligence test. Did I forget to mention that the average score is a 20? He will start the season on the DL, perhaps he can use that time to ed-u-mi-kate himself a bit on the Giants playbook. Then they draft 2 other guys that are Ivy league. LOL

If the Giants can keep their players out of jail (on mysterious charges no less, someone call Scooby) I think they have a legit chance of hoisting that trophy above their heads again this season!

And there you have my random ramblings about the Giants this seaon, hope you enjoyed!

Go Blue Go!

Mario Kart Wii

Good morning one and all!

I'd have to say that by now almost everyone on here has already gotten their copies of Mario Kart Wii, and have already weighed in on their opinions on how good (or bad) it is. So, here are my brief thoughts on the game:

I am ashamed to say that I have not had the opportunity to spend as much time with the game as I would have liked to this point. My stupid life and responsibilities keep getting in the way. Like right now. Why am I at work writing this blog when I could be at home racing??

So, that being said, I have to say that what I have seen so far has made me a very happy girl. :) I have unlocked all the courses, and was excited, to see the return of some of my favorite tracks, as well as my nemesis Rainbow Road. I am a bit unhappy with the online play, I have tried it only once and was unable to connect because Nintendo's servers were too busy. I guess everyone that owned the game was all reveved up to play at 7:22 last night just like I was. Never the less, I switched to off line and had a good time anyway. I can't wait to start unlocking some more of the characters, I miss racing with Dry Bones!

With all of that said, I am going to post my friend code on here. If you'd like we can race sometime. Just send me a PM after you have added me with your friend code, and I'll see you online!!

Boogedy, boogedy, boogedy, let's go racing boys!

Opening Day

The baseball gods were so saddened to see the last Opening Day game to be played at the historic Yankee Stadium that their tears feel down from the heavens, thus postponing the game until this evening.

That's right boys and girls! The boys of summer are back, and I couldn't be more excited. For the first time in recent memory the New York Yankees are not the favorite in the AL East, and I am not bothered by that at all. As a matter of fact I think it will give our Baby Yankees (otherwise known as Generation Tre) an even greater chance to show what they are made of. By removing the pressure of being the favorites they are free to exercise their growing pains, and show all of the doubters out there that this team can, and will return to the post season for the 13th straight year.

Enough about the team though. I am very upset to see the Stadium go. It was the place where I saw my first baseball game, and where I fell in love with both the sport, and my team. Although I no longer live in New York, and have not been in Yankee Stadium for longer than I would care to admit, it still gives me chills to see it on TV. It will be a very sad day for me next year when they move across the street into the new Yankee Stadium.

I understand the need for newer and better, but I also like tradition. Look at Fenway (not too long, you'll go blind), that old place has been around forever, and looks like it will still be for years to come. I am sad that such a big part of the mystique that surrounds the Yankees will soon come to an end. Everyone knows that the Stadium and it's ghosts are the 10th player on this team, and all the teams that have preceded it.

I am happy to hear that the new stadium has incorporated female locker rooms in the event that baseball ever become integrated and allows female umpires. To me that says they are looking forward with this stadium, and maybe this one will be around for a long time. I am hoping that it will not follow the trend that is around baseball these days. You know what trend I am talking about. The one where a team builds a stadium and decides 10 years into it that it is not good enough, and demands a new one. Baseball is about tradition, of one generation taking the newer generation to their first games, sitting in the same seats that they once sat in at their age. That is what baseball is to me. Tradition. And that is why it makes me so sad to see Yankee Stadium begin it's farewell tour. It's just nice to know that the baseball gods agree with me...

Are you kidding me???

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/us_world/2008/03/21/2008-03-21_depressed_women_have_more_sex_a_new_stud.html

Okay, so a new study shows that depressed women have up to 3 times more sex than mentally healthy women! Can that be true?? If so, I think this article depressed me!

This story truly got me thinking on the subject. And I came to realize that it just might be true! I have an ex-friend, we shall call her Jenny. She was (well, I suppose she still is) a wacko. But, she always seemed to have a long line of hotties waiting to keep her warm at night. I think she is a casebook example of manic depressive, and it seems to me that guys were attracted to that!

Now, don't get me wrong. I enjoy good mental health, and I have not been completely ignored by the male gender in my time. But it does seem to prove the old adage that if you treat a man badly, he will only want you more. LOL

Do nice (mentally healthy) girls always finish last? Please tell me stories about the crazy women (or men) that you have known, and let me know if you agree with this article.

In the meantime I am going to look for a good therapist in the Yellow Pages...

It's Time!!!

Ahh yes everyone, it is that time of year again. The time when we are blessed by the Eastery yummy goodness known as Cadbury Creme Eggs.

Cadbury Creme Egg

I was innocently walking through my local Target the other day when what to my wandering eyes should appear, but that familiar foil wrapper glinting in the overhead lights. I instantly snatched one up, ran to the checkout counter and slapped down my two quarters. My entry fee into the world of chocolately, creamy goodness. Ahh, I remeber that moment as if it was yesterday, uhh, or 3 minutes ago to be exact.

Now, I know lots of people that are Anti-Cadbury Creme Egg, and to those of you I say, "More for me baby!!" That's right! I scoff at the legions of Peep-lovers, I sneer at the Jelly Bean Crowds, and I laugh in the face of the worshippers of the Long Eared Bunnies. For me nothing says Easter like Cadbury.

Those folks at Cadbury have even outdone themselves by making little Creme Eggs in a little egg carton package. For those times when a full sized egg is too much, but you need to have a little hit, uhm, I mean taste. You know those cravings I am talking about, don't even try to deny it. I'm serious. Don't try. I have the video.

So for those who stand behind me in my deep love for this bit of seasonal joy, I say... "Be proud, remember they are only available for a limited time!"
