Well since noone is giving you an awnser i guess ill tell you. First of all weight lifting is alot more advanced than what most people think. To answer you question about position, the right way to lift a dum bell is with an upside down grip, thumbs raped on the handels or sticking out, which ever is more confortable. Then lift curl up and back down not letting the momentum of the wieght bring your arm down, the key to weight lifting is posture. To get good results you gotta make sure your doing it right, if you want to reduce injurry then you MUST warm up. This is crucial for lifting, warmup you arms by using like a 5 pound weight just to get the mucles warmed up, do a set or to then move to the wieght of your chose. Now, the amount of weight you want is up to you, if you feel that its to much then go lower, or if you think its to easy go higher, your wieghts should be just right meaning you should be barely able to finsih your final set.

Now you must remember, if you are over weight, and by that i mean a little on the fat side, then DONT start weight lifting, why? because if your over wieght and weight lift chances are you going to get stronger but you wont see those nice arms, abs...ect...that you want to see. What will happen is youl grow muscle under the fat, therefor it will be alot harder to lose that fat now that theres muscle under it. If your over wieght lose pounds first, instead of lifting you should do Arobic excersizes such as running, bike riding, swimming...ext to lose that un wanted fat, after that you can weight lift and gain muscle and that body you want. Theres alot more to it as well, you must remember about nutrition because thats the number one way of getting into shape. Like they say, you dont get a 6-pack of hard abs in the gym, but rather in the kitchen.

Elaborate on what to eat/drink and what NOT to eat/drink/

It all depends, if your looking to gain muscle mass, your going to want alot of calories and alot of slow burning carbs, 6 meals a day. your going to want to eat things like Tuna on white bread, chicken isnt too bad and your going to need to go to a nutritional store and get Protein or mass gainer

i can still drink coke and stuff right, and i can eat cake and rice and chocolate and sweet stuff:P

i didn't need protein powder or other nutritional substances to build.

Of course you dont need it, but it would certainly help. you should eat at least your own body weight in grams of protein to build muscle

fair enough because some people may need it

just doing dumbells won't help as much as you could if you did more types of weights. Fair enouhg if you don't have access to other machines or weights but you should try get in access with chest press, bench press, peck decks and such. There are alot of exercises you can do with dumbells but that usually only takes up maybe half my gym workout.

You should get down to your local gym, sports store and just ask if they can help you with different techniques.
