Eternal Darkness bathtub scene..a jump scare, yes, but one I was totally unprepared for. And that entire game was a mindf*ck anyway with the occult weirdness and Lovecraft stuff. The bust that follows you down the hall with its gaze freaked me out, too!
@TheGreatPhoenix I'm talking gamer psychology, not straight-up math. People parse review scores like the Zapruder Film. People see an outlying six among sevens and eights and they lose their sh*t. Not even saying it's an unfair score, but I am surprised that Petit was expecting innovation for a fast turnaround game done by another studio and released right before new consoles come out. THe next Arkham game will be the true litmus test for innovation and would be rightly slated if it' follows the same old template.
@TheGreatPhoenix @stryker1121 From a gamer psychology perspective, there's a huge gulf between 6 and 7. How long have you been around here, anyway? These people re nuts. And I'm not even complaining about the score...so your rude comment was unwarranted and as immature as the commentors you've been complaining about.
@JJB03 No but those games have an established template, Zelda and Mario in particular have those set formulas that fans expect. Not played AO yet but don't mind if it it's samey because this is end of gen, quick turnaround cash grab. Not a terrible thing, and even B-sides can be good..however if Rocksteady's next Bats game is exactly the same as AA and AC, then they would deserve to be taken to task.
@wwlettsome The score seems a little low especially with everyone else so far giving 7s and 8s. You had to know the second AO was announced that it was going to be a B-side. Innovation if it comes won't be til next gen. This is a cash grab but doesn't mean it's a bad game.
