Exit Music Videos; Enter Video Blogging

Well, I decided to delete all my music videos that I've uploaded on GameSpot to make way for some video blogs that I hope to upload in the near future. I dug up an old webcam which is pretty good for what it is.

Anyway, I hope to have a video blog up this friday. It'll probably just be something simple, I'm thinking of just introducing myself and giving a small 'tour' of my overall gaming set-up. I'll just do that to get a feel for video blogging.

The problem is, talking to a camera by yourself is akward. I've given it a little try and it feels totally wierd. I'll give it a shot none-the-less. It'll probably be easier on Friday because I'll have a chance to be alone in the house rather than people wandering around the house.

Just recovered from a horrible, flesh-eating virus!

Well not exactly. The other day my pc managed to get a virus which meant I had to reformat my whole hard drive. This left me with absolutly nothing on my computer :(

Well that was about a week ago. I think I've recovered now but I don't think I will ever be fully cured. I believe that the virus has permenantly scarred me. Unfortunatly, I lost some music videos which I was planning to upload. I also lost a ton of other stuff, about 60gb altogether :(

Oh well, these things happen I guess. Well, they seem to happen to me :(

Level 20 - Metal Slime

One of the cutest monsters from Dragon Warrior. A royal pain in the butt to beat before they ran away. But oh, the XP if you managed it!

Finally, it's been a little while since my last level up. But then again I haven't been coming on GameSpot recently for some reason :?

Artistic Genius

Because you've mastered that Photoshop gradient tool.
Awarded to those whose artistic talents have helped beautify gamespaces all across the GameSpot landscape.

What a cool emblem! I only got Photoshop a few days ago and I already managed to get 6 of my banners through to GameSpot.

Here are the Banners that got accepted:

Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness

Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped

Soldier of Fortune

Vietcong

Dead or Alive 3

Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2

My Crappy Internet

I've always got along pretty well with my internet provider. I am currently on Wanadoo which is a British Internet provider. But I recently came to realise the awful truth. I have a bandwidth limit! A goddamn 2gb bandwidth limit. I hadn't noticed before but as I have started downloading a bit more recently , I noticed that my downloads have been slowing down to about 20-50 kbs towards the end of the month. Nowadays, I download way more than 2gb a month so this tends to really grind my gears.

I usually get about 100 - 200 kbs downloads but I hate it when it takes me 3 hours to download a demo off GameSpot. I really wanna download the new Battle For Middle Earth 2 demo because this game looks amazing but I have to wait untill night so I can leave it on over night. Life's a b****!

But no worrys, with a bit of luck I may be able to persuade my mum into switching to Blue Yonder internet which is by far the best British service provider out there. It is faster (2mb), cheaper and no bandwidth limit. That = Yay! :)

GameSpot Complete

After a bit of thinking, I decided to sign up to GameSpot Complete. It's only about £3.00 a month which is definitly worth it. You get cool features like, faster downloads, the ability to create your own message board, access to beta tests, downloadable walkthroughs, complete members only message boards, exclusive “backstage” coverage of major game trade shows and much more...

The main reasons that made me decide to get it was 1) You get a cool emblem and 2) I think GameSpot deserve the money. I've only just signed up to it so there isn't really much else I can say about it.

Oh and by the way, today I reached Level 13 - Tobbin'

Today's been an awsome day on GameSpot!

Can CGI get any better?

After watching such films as King Kong, Lord of the Rings and Final Fantasy: Advent Children, it made me think. In five years time, will the CGI look even better. Advent Children already looks real and King Kong, to me, looked like a real gorilla that had been made to look bigger and scarier.

Films these days, have such real-looking CGI and it is getting even better by the year. So in a few years time, how could it possibly look even better? If it looked more realistic, it would be indistinguishable from real life.

And now...games are having the same impact. The way the characters move, they could easily pass for real people if they didn't look so...pixely. But the same question applies here. In a few years time, will video game charaters look real? They already move like real people, all they need is a bit of graphic updates and they could pass for real people.

It will be interesting to see how the CGI world looks in a few years. Are movies and video games gonna look like they do know for eternity or can they get even better than they already are? All we can do is wait for the answer.

All together it came to no more than £45 which is a pretty good price in my opinion. Was this a good choice or should I have chosen something else?
