An excerpt from my novel.

I know a lot of people on here are fans of my fanfic, and if anyone was interested in reading my "regular" stuff, I've posted an excerpt from my novel Fire Hall Wedding at my LJ.

The pool game

It's rather long, but I'd appreciate some feedback from average readers, since only three people have ever read this, and two of them were published authors. :)

Sugah and the terrible, awful, no good, very bad day.

I'd been looking forward to yesterday for over a month now. The National Championship game, played right on the other side of my dear city in Glendale, AZ. First official BCS National Championship game, that wasn't another bowl. And who is playing in that game? My Buckeyes.

Ranked #1 from the beginning of the season. Undefeated. Unstoppable. We don't just beat our opponents. We crush them.

Yeah. Yesterday sucked.

First of all, I want to write a nasty letter to the University of Phoenix stadium for charging me $32 for a parking pass I then could not retrieve. I was told by the parking lot attendant that in order to pick up my pass, I had to park in this lot, walk to will call, and then walk back to my car. But to park where he told me to, I had to pay $20. So we just parked in that lot for the whole game. But I'm now out $32. Jerks.

I didn't have tickets for the game, but my friends who were visiting did. Anyway, we were going to go to the OSU Phoenix Alumni club bash. The information on the website was very misleading. I was under the impression there would be lots of food and TVs to watch the game. There were only 4 food vendors, and they ran out of food around 5. The game started at 6:30. There was only one TV, and granted it was a jumbo-tron, but I'm short and still couldn't see for much of the game.

Then there were the obnoxious Florida fans. I know there are plenty of obnoxious Buckeye fans as well, but I personally am not an obnoxious fan. So when someone is a jerk to me, I want to smack them.

Then there was the game in itself. Apart from the first play of the game, where Teddy Ginn ran the opening kickoff back 93 yards for a touchdown, it was embarrassing. I think the Buckeyes were still back in Ohio rather than on the field, because we totally totally sucked. And complete credit can not be given to Florida, because we did not play like Ohio State. We played terribly. I left to walk back to the car with 10 minutes left in the game, because we were down 27 points, and barring a miracle, there was no way we were going to come back against that.

The best part of the night by far was when the 6'3" Florida fan who was standing on the top ledge and blocking the view for me and the 6 people behind me was pushed into the fountain. It was awesome.

Oh, and don't forget that it took us an hour to get out of our parking lot and half an hour to get from the stadium to the interstate. Once we were on the interstate, though, it only took us half an hour to get home.

Then I had to wake up at 6 this morning to drive my friends to the airport in rush hour traffic.

Very very glad that I took today off.

I need a drink.

First day of work.

So today was my first day.

My boss, Dave, seems really nice. Also super laid back. Yesterday he tells me, "Show up around 10. 10:30." I get to wear jeans. Anyway, so I show up, and he gives me a tour of the house (freaking huge by the way), and then I help Annette (his current assistant, who is going back to school, hence why he needs a new one) package some posters for shipping. So much more goes into the packaging process than I thought. According to Dave, packaging is the most important part of the business. Poorly packaged posters can be damaged in transit, and some of these posters sell for $1000s.

After we packaged the posters, Annette and I took them to the post office. The people at the post office must hate us, because we came in with like 15 posters to mail, and they're all going at different rates (express, priority, air mail) to different places. It's time consuming. And I really pitied the people who came in after us and had to wait for us to finish.

We stopped at Dave's office to pick up his mail, then we got some food, then we went back to the house. The mail was posters. I am shocked. :P We opened those and laid them out in his "studio" (his back patio - tres professional, I know) to photograph them with the digital camera. Then Annette showed me how I'll have to adjust the brightness/contrast so that the posters don't look washed out when we put the pics up online. Then we put the posters in plastic wrap for storage, labeled them, and put them away.

And for that I get $9 an hour. :D

Side note: I made it to work in thirty minutes this morning. It took me an hour to get home. Stupid rush hour.

I'm sure everyone is waiting to hear...

...how my interview went.

Well...

I GOT THE JOB!

*excited happy dance*

Of course, having a job will severely limit the amount of time I can spend on the boards, but it's a small price to pay for getting a paycheck again! :D

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Ohio State is NOT playing Michigan again for the National Championship! We're playing Florida! We're gonna kick some Gator butt! The system works!

Guess what?

I got a job interview. :D

Monday, 1:30.

For a place that sells vintage movie posters.

It's only part-time, but it's $9 an hour, which is more than I made at the bank, and more than I'd make at Grimaldi's.

So...yay. :D

Ann Arbor is a wh*re!

OHIO STATE IS GOING TO THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! THE BUCKEYES DEFEATED THE WOLVERINES 42 - 39!

GO BUCKEYES!

MICHIGAN SUCKS!
