I'll get a Wii U for the Nintendo games, but not sure about a PS4 and won't be going anywhere near Xbox1

Waiting for a friend who works there.

I went to the game sections and started browsing, then this kid and his parents came in, he was super excited about the wii u, constantly shouting "I want one please its definitely amazing!", and even though the kid was very obnoxious and annoying, I didnt felt anger towards him, no, I felt pity.

I approached the boy, kneeled down and told him "son, dont make a rushed decision" his parents looked at me very frightened at first, but then they smiled as they understood I was doing something good, and changing the kid's desires.

"New consoles are on their way, real consoles, with real games, I know it's hard, but you need to leave the past behind, this, the wii u, is not the wii...no, it's much worse, owning this will be a torture, you will never be able to play games or even watch a simple movie with it, your friends will laugh at you and your parents will refuse to buy another console because they already got you this one, dont take a decision you're  going to regret" I said to him in a calm tone.

The kid looked at me for a while, his mouth now shut, and then he just said "you're right mister, I was in for a horrible surprise, and you guided me back into the path"

"mom, dad, I no longer want a wii u, im gonna be patient and wait for the new consoles, or until I can save enough for a PC"- "Yes son, we'll help you with that, we definitely will" said his father with a tear in the eye.

 

The parents thanked me a bunch of times, telling me how the kid had been asking for the wii u nonstop for months, they said they would consider buying a PC to him, I told them "if you need to get cheap parts or guidence on buying and building it, give me a call", and I gave them my card.

 

My friend finished his shift and we left the store, and in my heart, I knew I had taken the right approach to the situation.

 

Tell me SW, Did I do the right thing today? do you think the kid will be grateful, and remain resolute to his goal?

Typical for System Wars that nobody cares about Madden and openly scoffs at anyone who even dares mention it, then makes a huge deal about it skipping the Wii U.

Thats fine but atleast Sony offers variety and new IP instead of rehashing Mario and Zelda for 30 years.

As opposed to yearly updates to the same games for the last 12 years and counting?  Don't think that the other two aren't doing this as well, and more often.

If you're going to sit here and say that grinding it a necessity in the game then its quite obvious that you're just not very good at it. If you just don't find the game fun from a gameplay standpoint then that's fine.

While I think there really are much worse comapanies out there than EA (exploiting the environment, third world countries, etc), this is what happens when you lie to your customers, openly mock them, string them along and then pretend that the unsatisfied ones don't exist.
