just a couple things to tc:

1: I see how you could think that, I mean in a game like wii boxing I'll admit that the punches dont do exactly what your motions do.  That is intentional I think, or else the game would succomb to a motion sensing version of button mashing.  You have to learn to control your movements, if you go too jerky and erratic then the game will punish you.  I noticed  this when my brother, who just got to try the wii, would suck on a lot of games thinking he was doing them right when he wasnt.

I tottaly have to disagree with you on Wii boxing. The game was totaly non-responsive. Power punches come out no where. It's nearly imposible to choose between a head and body shot, and the blocking just sucks. This particular game is just flatout broken.

Yeah, I pretty much totally disagree with the title of this thread.

Why? I'm on my third game of Zelda:TP and I'm still loving it. It doesn't feel gimicky at all. (neither do all of my other Wii games)

Am I a fanboy? No. I didn't even finish Z:OoT, and the only other Zelda I played was the gameboy one...for about 5 hours total.

Just, wondering, what other games do you have? There are some very good games with responsive and inventive controls like Zelda TP. However, on the other end of the spectrum are games like Sonic and the Secret rings where at times, the controler seems completly non-responsive, and the multy-player consists of cheap multyplayer games useing the Wii-mote as gimickly as possible. (Is gimickly a word?)

I think the Wii can be saved by Nintendo themselves by showing everyone else how good the controls can be for a game. Super Mario Galaxy looks perfect with the wiimote. Metroid Prime 3 (which is made by Retro-Studios, not Nintendo, but they are probably cooperating) also looks very good. I don't think third party developers have spend a lot of time in making their games good, so I guess that's where the problem is. I do not doubt that games will be a lot better for the Wii in the future.Litchie
I'm with you 100% It's Nintendo's baby, and the games produced by them are significantly better. But if the third party don't develope better uses for the Wii-mote, then their sales will drop. Their sales dropping will cause them to stop making games for the Wii, and then the Wii will be third-party-less, just like the Gamecube. I don't think Nintendo can last another Gamecube. So much of Nintendo is riding on the Wii that if it fails, Nintendo might fail, which is a scary thought.

I'm not sure. I think as of right now that it's true, but series games like Halo and soon Gears of War will start making fanboys out of the 360 owners. The reason that there are so many Nintendo fanboys is that it's been around forever, longer than lots of gamers have been alive. The 360 is the new kid on the block, and I think that by the next generation of consoles, people are going to be dying to get their hands on the system created by Microsoft for it's now consistent release of great games.

I think the precision has more to do the the game than the controller itself. I'm sure that some of the problems with inaccuracy can be caused by the Wii-mote itself, but I've played games that show its incredibly accurate. I think that developers are responsible for making the game work right.

I've been watching the constant flow of Nintendo Wii games and tons of them have been using the Wii-mote as nothing but a gimmick. The Wii has great potential, but if the the game makers just use it as a way to make crappy mini-games slightly more fun by pointing at things, the Wii is going to go under. Some games have made good use of the controls, like Legend of Zelda, and Dragon Ball Z 2 (What ever the weird Japanese sub-title is). However, the controls for the games tend to be way too sloppy, which makes for frustration and not a lot of fun. How do you think the Wii can be saved?

If you look at buying a game with a whole new system and getting it all together, then yes it is quite steep. However, if you consider you already have the console, the 50 for Xbox live lasts for an entire year, and that you don't need to buy 2 games at once (unless you get bored with a game so easily that you should've never bought it) it seems like much more of a mole hill than a mountain.

I definitely think it's not too expensive. You look in the recent past and see a standardize price of $50 per game. Now, think about how much more the production costs for a game like Gears of War, Oblivion, or the majority of other current gen games. Now also think about the inflation of the US dollar that makes each dollar worth less and less. It all ads up to a reasonable price if you ask me... which you did... in forum form at least...

I remember playing Streets of Rage all the time. I think it was the second game I ever completed. I'd always use the kid on the rollerskates, and I'll never forget the sounds the enemies made when they died. Priceless.

The first game I ever completed was Sonic 2. I loved that game and it took me forever to finally beat it, but I'll always remember turning into Super Sonic and kicking Eggman's ass. It was my first video game ever. And after I spent hours playing Sonic, I became addicted to video games and haven't stopped playing since.
