We're Not Scaremongering

This is really happening. Oh yes it is. It's an excruciatingly minimalistic 'blog' about music and samples of it that I've been dabbling with over the past few months. It's mostly been Metal and/or its Progressive brotherman, with a bit of Indie Po(o)p on the side. I've even gone ahead and listened to a Tech. Death Metal album. I've also included covers to go along with the album names, so appreciate it.

Animals as Leaders by Animals as Leaders

Instrumental Prog. Metal act formed by guitarist Tosin Abasi. This is their debut album (they recently released their sophomore album) and it is something to check out. It's actually not all Metal as there are a few slower tempo tracks that lean more towards Rock. Here's a preview track.

The Illusion of Democracy by Reflux

Abasi's band prior to Animals as Leaders. They only released a single album. I've only listened to it once, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. At least there's one Metalcore band that likes to delve into politics. Look how long they lasted for.

Ceremonials by Florence and the Machine

Get this album and listen to it. I'm serious, do it now. I first listened to Florence Welch back in 2010 with her debut album, Lungs. I loved it. Her voice is absolutely magical. That album was the perfect debut because it showcased her voice in the middle of everything. With Ceremonials, there is a larger focus on the band that backs Welch. It is an unbelievably consistent collection of songs from what I believe to be the best Pop artist of today.

Obscura by Gorguts

Among Metal fanatics, this album is regarded as the holy grail of all Metal albums. I'm too much of a music noob to notice what is so "revolutionary" about the riffs showcased in this album, but I can sure appreciate the absolute chaos of it.

Insurgentes by Steven Wilson

This man is a ****ing god. It's as if everything he touches turns to gold. Thanks very much to Thomas (COD4ME) for pressing me to listen to this work of art. The title track never ceases to make me shiver.

Soviet Kitsch by Regina Spektor

This woman (I'm seriously inclined to refer to her as 'girl'), her voice, her lyrics, her piano, and the music she plays make every fibre of my pessimistic being believe that there's something in this world to be positive and happy about. She's honestly that good.

Kezia and Fortress by Protest the Hero

This is essentially all I have been listening to for the past several weeks. This band is absolutely amazing. Kezia, their debut album, was recorded when they were still in high school. It expresses maturity and musicianship that is hard to find in artists twice their age and earning more money for producing nothing. It is a flawed masterpiece. Fortress, their sophomore release, is a near perfect revision of the foundation set by Kezia. Here's the opening track from Fortress, for anyone interested.

That is all.

Does Anyone Else Feel Like...

Crying when listening to this song?

I'm listening to it on repeat. Makes me wish I could fly.

Brothermen, after four months of trials, tribulations and threats against douchebags that have cut me short of my goal, I can finally rest in peace till November 8th, 2011. I got my first nuke in Modern Warfare 2. Actually, the day after, I got my second. Was pretty cool. I recall jumping up and down, proclaiming to anybody around that "This is the best day ever!" It's quite sad that it really was...

Do You Realise What This Means?

Yeah... But... you say it first.

Also, that kid Bioshockraptor wanted me to blog about my "lauv for MW2."
It's a love-hate relationship between my boomstick, knives, explosives and douchebaggery.
