well a lot of other games use SECUROM copy protection. that protection system is completly broken from a design point of view. i have no problem with software 'phoning home', hell i make software that phones home (though not for the purpose of authenticating but for updates) it's a pretty standard process, what is annoying however are use-counters, they're crap especially from a programming point of view, they will only cause you pain and suffering, subcription based copy protection is a thousand times more effective.

THE REAL PROBLEM WITH SECUROM AND DRM IN GENERAL is that stiffing 'pirates', quoted because i use about 3 different PC with more than one OS on each, with a system that count the number of time it's used in a different machine is a pain for the legal user ONLY. there's few cases where this kind of method is appropriate, RETAILS SOFTWARE IS NOT

THEY HAVE ALTERNATIVES TO DRM AND USE-COUNTER, using a subscription scheme fixes all that. they can use the already popular, tested and loved STEAM. by using a subscription system they eliminate the need for use-counters, keep a nice record of your buying habits, can come in contact with you more easily AND DO NOT SUFFER BAD PRESS.

i loved Mass Effect on the 360, i'll buy this on Steam if it is available otherwise i won't go through the hassle of SECUROM

Steam offers publisher and user the perfect solution for copy protection, backup, updates and a lot more

it's a shame that publisher, that means you EA, are reluctant to move to steam for the simple reason they don't own it, but mark my words, they will be forced one or another to move to Steam or waste million in development of another subcription based service

Maybe obsidian next project is Kotor 3, i don't blame them for rushing the end in the Kotor 2, you're a new studio you need some way to make money. They still made one of the deepest most mature RPG i've played in recent years

A bioware MMO, i'm curious about how they'll blend deep intriging dialogue with an MMO base. As long as there's not a **** of jedi running around slice and dicing the crap out of evry1 then it should be cool.

They should really integrate Galaxies ship system, that was the only reasons to get galaxy.

If they follow the WoW model and blend in a story worth the while then i'll be happy to fork 15$ per month.

just imagine 50 vs 50 Sith vs Republic pvp battleground

PS: nothing stops them from also making a true rpg succesor to kotor and an MMO, they the biggest moneycow in the industry and two high quality studio

The beauty of PC gaming is that it's not unified. That's what drives innovation and great platform like steam.

F u c k Xbox live, it's not worth paying, PSN is complete uter joke

my personal opinion is steam will eventually take over distribution of PC game, it's just so easy, i've never had to worry about updating a steam game, but without someone else keeping it sharp it will grow bloated, think Intel

no nice looking PC game will ever get more than 9.5 simply because ppl with pentium 2 can't play them. Gamespot never ever take in account the longevity of PC game, just look at their score for CS, that was the most played game ever before WoW.

But hey, if you want real pc game review buy a maximumPC or PCgamer.

PS: it was bloody gerstman, of course he's biased, it's not like that stuff was also new to him

Ubisoft montreal gives a lot of internship, Bioware looks cool but i'd prefer obsidian dude to their PC focus.

Trick is really to show your work as a programmer, barge in with a laptop and run these nice program you made, that's how i got my job
