My specs are:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Black Edition
4GB Mushkin Extreme Memory
2x Western Digital 10,000RPM Raptor Hard Drives in Raid 0 Format.
XFX Geforce 8800GT
Sound Blaster Fatality X-Fi

I have XP Pro 64 bit right now, it runs well but its only the free evaluation version which i will have to re install anyway if i chose to buy it, but I got my hands on Vista 64 bit and i hated Vista 32 bit.. i was wondering if there are any significant performance gains by switching to Vista 64 bit or should i just buy XP Pro instead? What are your thoughts?

i have that same exact card and model. I pump the fan speed to 90-95% and overclock even more to 705mhz core speed. I have not run into any problems yet. and it stays about 140 degrees when playing crysis 1900x1200 Very High/ High Hybrid on XP Pro 64. I have not had a problem so far. By the way.. when you say the card "artifacts" what exactly does that mean?

ok, so I am a little lost. I have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400 (3.2ghz) Processor, 2 GB Ram, 2 10,00 RPM Raptor Hard Drives in Raid 0 format, Fatality Soundblaster with X-Ram, and a XFX Geforce 8800GT video card.

I play world of warcraft and the frame rate tops out at 60 fps, thats it. No higher, and usually no less, except in shatrath it sinks down to 21 fps..... According to gamespot performance guides... shouldnt i be getting somewhere near 100+ FPS on maximum settings?

Any ideas or suggestions?? Im stumped.

I recently upgraded my winwdows XP to Vista Home Premium and i have a GeForce 6600GT OC, I tried to play world of warcraft like normal which played superb on my XP setup, it extremely sluggish i also tryed playing Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne and got the same result. Even when the frame rates are at a good speed it still does a quick little stutter every second or so. Does anyone have any suggestion.. i turned off Aero and i still get no improvement. Im running a P4 2.4ghz and 1gb of ram with a 512 ready boost.
