I am currently trying to get some mods for minecraft. I have already tried to do the 7-zip copy and paste method but for some reason I'm doing something wrong. Furthermore every time I try to open up the minecraft .jar file it gives me a "Failed to load mainclass attribute...". Can anyone suggest a solution? Does the error even have anything to do with modding?

I think I may have solved the problem. The only thing is that spawnlist hasn't got an update for v1.5 yet soI can't test out my baby animals mod.

So I recently saw a tutoial involving how to install minecraft mods. It said I need to access the minecraft .jar file. The problem is that every time I try to "open" the file I get an error. I even installed this program called WinRAR but every time I right click the .jar file and go to "open with..." option there is no option to open it with WinRAR. Is there any way to install minecraft mods without accessing the .jar file?

I'm not very computer savy so try to take it easy on me. :)

on my desktop i rightclick on minecraft and click run as administrator but I still can't open texture packs or mods. If it helps, I also tried an alternate method of installing them but I get an error when trying to open the minecraft jar file. Should I try uninstalling and reinstalling minecraft?

on the home screen of minecraft, I click on the "mods and textures option and when i click on the "open texture pack folder" i get an error that says "RunDLL error loading url.dll Access is denied". Does anyone have any suggestions? do i need to change any of my security settings?

I didn't get a response on my first post so help would be much appreciated.
