I'll never trust a digital download again

So as you guys know, I bought a new computer. The first thing I did was try to get those games my old comp could never run.

Example: I owned Oblivion since day one on PC, but sadly I never got to play it because of my hella old graphics card(i had a nvidia 5800 at the time). Installed it...ran super smooth. Love it(not better than fallout though =P).

Next was Mass Effect. I'm a huge bioware fan, and since I lack a 360, I've been wanting this for awhile. right...WRONG. Aparently the gods that be hate me. I can't find a hardcopy of the game anywhere so I resort to digital download from gamestop.com. Needless to say...I've had an ass load of problems. I typed this in the PC hardware forums but have gotten no responses in 6 hours. I really could use some expert help here.

Recently I bought a new computer(2.83 quad processor, 4gb ram, 1g nvidia 9800), so I figured I would finally get mass effect(since I own a ps3 and not a 360). I bought the download from gamestop.com and I've had nothing but problems.

The game downloads fine, and then it seemingly installs fine. But when I click play, it starts to configure and this is the message I get "A problem cause the program to stop working correctly, Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".

I have zero clue to what I am doing wrong. I've tried uninstalling and redownloading, I've tried deleting all the files and reinstalling. I even turned off the anti-virus to make sure that wasn't goofing it up, but no avail. Anyone have any suggestions or clues as to what I need to do to fix this?

anyone have any clue what the hell is happening? I've tried everything at least 5 times in the last 2 days. I feel like I just got gipped 20 bucks. *tears*

Microphone Fiend

WOO my new computer came in yesterday. It is an HP desktop with 2.83 quad processor, 4gb ram, 1gb NVIDIA 9800, 500gb harddrive.

I know what a lot of you are thinking "why didn't you just build one dude would cost a lot less". And you are right, but sadly I am impatient. Also, my building skills are lackey at best(yes thats the right word). My best friend joe use to help me build them(he was the brains and l watched), but I fear without him, I might suck hard at it. Wife thought it better not to try and screw sh*t up. She's the boss what can I say.

So finally I get to play Oblivion(bought on pc day one, found out my old comp couldn't run it, almost cried), and MASS EFFECT!!!!(so buying that tomorrow).

I'm on leave this week, and man its been good to me. My birthday was monday(yup 4/20 its weak). And I played volleyball with my squadron. We lost our first game, but now we are 2-1. Had a game today, it was intense, but I came down on the person in front of me, she wasn't expecting it and neither was the dude behind her. Gotta go back to work on monday, so not ready for that. Back to ass kissing military.

Doom! Doom! Doom!

I haven't posted one of these in a long time, I figured today was a good day to start.

First, Happy Easter to all my practicing and non practicing juedo-christian friends. I hope your days with your family are good and happy.

Next up, I've been on a gaming splurg since I last wrote a blog. I've bought Killzone 2, Uncharted, Burnout Paradise, Valkryia Chronicles, Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, and Prince of Persia(which I do not enjoy). I still can't believe my wife let me spend all that money(it was probably over a 1.5 month period). Needless to say, I've had a great time playing those games(except PoP). Killzone 2 was visually amazing(look for me to write a review on it this week), Uncharted's twist blew my mind(and I did not mind it), Burnout is such destructive fun!!, VC I honestly need to spend more time on. I reached a mission which kicked my ass and I haven't gotten around to grinding levels. Sonic brings back the fond memories of games I had/played when I was a child(golden axe I love you). PoP, *sigh* bores me to tears. Sorry fans of it.

In RL, I've been slightly depressed and I can't figure out why. Its getting sunnier(I can still see the sun at 930 at night now) and I'm getting sadder. Perhaps it has to do with two of the few friends I have up here are deploying. Maybe its because I've been working without leave since last June. Maybe I really DO miss VA(I doubt it). I feel bad for my poor wife, she has to put up with my sh*tty attitude. I really hope this all turns around. My supervisors allowed me to take some leave on my birth week(bday is april 20th). Hopefully, a week of no shaving and gaming and just being home will turn all things around.

How is everyone else doing? How have you all been?

I tried to get out...but the pulled me back in

Updates with me

1) I completed Fallout 3...and then the next day a patch for trophies was released...fudge me. Great game, terrible ending. I do highly recommend it still, its beautiful and fun(make sure you do side quests or you will be sorely disappointed).

2) I started playing WoW again(World of Warcraft) at request of my supervisor at work my best friend in VA and my wife. Not as hardcore into as I use to be, but what is most important...I'm having FUN. Death Knights are a blast, and their starting quests are f-ing crazy. Nice lore in there.

3)Gotta complete Resistance 2. I started playing again this morning(being only on the 3rd level or so). I do enjoy this game...played some Co-op...I am an awesome medic. But running into a crowd of mobs to revive one guy is not a good idea. Lead to my party being wiped...my bad.

4) I still haven't played Far Cry 2. I don't know why. Too many good games, too short a period of time.

5)It is damn cold where I am. For those of you who don't know...I currently live in Alaska(thanks a lot air force). And one day last week it was -35. Huzzah...let me tell you how much that does not suck >_>

6)Everyone needs to eat this ice cream. Ben & Jerry's "Willie Nelson's Country Peach Cobbler" my god is it good! I just hope it doesn't have Willie's trademark...uhh...yea...in it.

7)What the hell happened to tokken!? I come back from a suspension and I see people's sigs saying he was banned? Anyone wanna fill me in?

Lastly, holidays are coming up, I hope you all enjoy christmas, hanakuah(i know i spelled it wrong i'm sorry), kwanza(do people celebrate this still? honestly), and new years.

Tired of DLC bias

Maybe its just me, but I am sick and f*cking tired of the bias that comes with DLC. Yea I know microsoft has paid for the DLC of GTA4 and Fallout 3, but it annoys the crap outta me.

What the hell is sony doing over in Japan? They are allowing microsoft to scoop up all the DLC, take away their exclusives, and Sony sits there and goes "o well". What the crap, that is not the sony i know of the ps1 and ps2 days. Is it their new Europeon CEO? WTF is going on?

So congrats my 360 owning friends, you will get DLC that I wish I could have. While the company I put my trust, faith and money into sits with their thumbs up their asses in Japan

Fallout 3: First impressions

When I first turned on Fallout and the intro played, I knew I was in for something special. The game looks, beautiful. From my first steps as a child, to running away from the vault, I couldn't be happier.

The game will start off kinda slow, with the first 30 minutes or so taking you from being born to be able to leave the jail(or vault whatever you call it). But once you escape, its where the real game begins. Now, for those of you that normally have your hand held in games and are told exactly what to do, this game isn't for you. In fact, if I didn't know already how to find megaton, I might have wondered in the craziness of the beginning.

Once you pick up some quests, things seem to take there own route. And you completely decide what type of person you are going to be. Currently, I am a goody goody female, who would rather save the entire world than commit one foul act. And it does seem that how you act affects the world. I am constantly getting gifts everytime I pass this one settler in megaton, and there has been a hit put out on me.

There is so much to do in the game, whether its killing people with small guns(my fav) or large missle launchers. Building a weapon, using bombs, sneaking around, picking locked doors. Its all good fun. I highly recommend this to all my GS friends who haven't had a chance to play it. But be warned PS3 users, the only problem I've encountered is when logged onto PSN, if you have alerts on, the game will lock up for several seconds. Its fixed by getting off PSN, or turning off messages, but if you own both systems and you find that to be extremely annoying, grab the 360 version for it is just as good.

never had so many games in such a short period of time

yesterday i bought fallout 3. thus far the game is great. and yes, there are some tech issues. everytime a friend signs on, it freezes for a second. other than that, i haven't seen washed out lighting or jagged edges like GS said there were. so if you are a fan of oblivion or just WRPGs, i suggest buying this game.

also next week I get R2. So that makes 4 games in 3 weeks(far cry 2, bioshock, resistance 2, and fallout 3).

with work and upgrade training and my wife and video games, i don't know how i make it through a day without my head exploding.

but soon bioshock is my first priorty to beat, and play fallout 3 when the wife isn't around. far cry 2 is gonna wait a bit, it started off slow, but i did enjoy the little bit of time i played it. lastly, resistance 2, if my psn friends get it as well, i will always hop on for a co-op game :)

Question for my Gamespot friends

Quick question to the few people who actually read these things.

As we all know, Fallout 3 comes out tonight. My gamestop is actually having a midnight showing. I have to wake up at 545 every morning for PT(exercise) before work.

If you were me, would you go tonight? Or just wait until tomorrow to pick up the game?

I REALLY wanna go, but i also REALLY want sleep.

Probably should mention that gamestop is 30 minutes away from me, so i probably won't be back home until close till 1

Dreams come true :)

The other day I picked up Far Cry 2, Bioshock, and my long awaited and wanted Blu Ray controller.

Thus far Far Cry 2 is awesome, and awesomely hard! I haven't gotten far, but its sick.

Bioshock on the other had, is just plain awesome. When my wife says "you should play bioshock I wanna see it" I should have known I was in for a treat.

R2 Competitve mode is not my favorite thing in the world. I'm not horrible at it, but the massive 60 person battle feels to frantic. I'll have to try smaller downscale battles later and post a real blog about it.

Resistance 2 Beta: Co-op impressions

After a weekend of play I can honestly say RESISTANCE 2 IS GONNA BE ONE OF THE BEST GAMES OF THE YEAR! I always knew it would be a good game, but my god. The co-op is seriously one of the best things i've ever played.

Lets start with the classes, there is Solider, Medic, and Spec ops.

Solider: They are your heavy hitting, damage taking tanks. Their primary weapon is a machine gun that has 200 rounds per clip. Soliders also have a secondary fire of a shiled. The best thing is, they get exp for being them. Firing on the enemy and taking damage nets exp points. How great is that? The Solider class is easy to pick up but difficult to master. I've seen some really great tanks, and I've seen AWFUL ones. This is my Second favorite class by far.

Medic: They are your healers. Their rifle deals damage to the enemy and heals your allies all in the same kinda shot(explain that to me). They have a secondary fire that heals all within the radius. Medics get exp in three great ways, hurting the enemy, healing your allies, and reviving dead allies. Now, I am probably the worst medic around(in fact, if you see my tag Kill7Me2Plenty3 and i'm a medic be worried), but I've seen some GREAT medics out there. Imo, they are the hardest class to be good at. You have to know your role and know it well. I wouldn't say I hate this class, I just hate that I suck so bad at it.

Spec Ops: This is my FAVORITE class by far(and I think I do a good job at it). They are a support class who is all about long range fire. Their primary weapon weapon is a high powered rifle with a long range scope. It is single burst but does its share of damage. Its secondary fire is what I assume to be only a electric bolt that deals damage(I'm not entirely sure). But where Spec Ops shines is their supplying of ammo. They are so valuable in battle. They will keep your tanks full of ammo, grenades, and even give the meidc's hedgehog grenades. They gain exp for damaging enemies and giving out ammo. With a good one, a tank could stay up forever(shield included) destroying all in its path. With a bad one, well, lets say mission failed shows up a lot.

In conclusion, the co-op is top notch. The board is fun and challenging. The level changes everytime you play so you don't have the same experience twice. When this game comes out, if it gets anything less than a 10 I'm going to be shocked.
