For me the only problem i've found with Haze is that the enemies are all the same. I mean they all look the same... Isn't that very very last gen??! It is really boring to kill the same guy again and again all the time

What do you seriously think about the game? Cause sincerely I don't see what so nice about the game. Doesn't differ from Timesplitters for me. It's just another 7.5 average game IMO.

Future Rockstar titles to be PS3 exclusive

In a preview of their top title that was written in Play Magazine, the makers of GTA IV, being Rockstar, have suggested something very interesting:

"The game is both PS3 and 360, but Rockstar has suggested that all further game development is going to be PS3 exclusive."

So if we may believe this preview, Rockstar will only develop games for the Playstation 3 after the launch of GTA IV. Is this fact or rumour? Does this mean ONLY PS3 titles or does it mean that Sony got their exclusives on the Grand Theft Auto series back? Only time can tell.

Its crazy to just try to sell the PS3 as a gaming machine and only a gaming machine. Its *The Best* BluRay player on the market right now. Use that as a key selling point. Anything to get more PS3's in more homes. Whatever the case, its going to be fun watching the PS3 sales go through the roof.Blackwater001

It's OK to have bunch of PS3s sold. But what about the games?? Ain't PS3 a gaming machine equipped with a Blu-Ray drive? I don't think it's the opposite. As Blu-Ray will be the only HD Optical format Sony can now sell Blu-Ray players and PS3 as a gaming machine equipped with a BD drive. Games are essential to make money out of PS3. I think Blu-Ray needed help from the PS3 to win the format war, but not to push the format itself.

I think that the PS3 can finally be sold as a gaming machine and essentially as a gaming machine, now that the HD-DVD is dead. One major problem with the ps3 is that it doesn't know what it is for its own good. A gaming machine, a blu-ray player?? Sony can now concentrate fully on games... What do you think?

Toshiba President and Chief Executive Atsutoshi Nishida stated "We carefully assessed the long-term impact of continuing the so-called next generation format war and concluded that a swift decision will best help the market develop. It was a tough decision. But it would have a big impact on our management if we continued HD DVD."

Year of the PS3??

Tokyo (Japan) - HD DVD has been put on life support after Netflix, Best Buy and Wal-Mart dropped the format last week and it appears that even Toshiba has lost all confidence that it can win the format war, industry sources said on Saturday.

HD DVD players on Wal-Mart's shelves

Reuters reported Saturday that an official announcement from Toshiba confirming the victory of Blu-ray and its decision to cease production of HD DVD players could come as early as next week. "We have entered the final stage of planning to make our exit from the next generation DVD business," an industry source told Reuters.

Earlier, Japanese broadcaster NHK broke the news that Toshiba decided to cancel the development of further HD DVD technologies, but to manufacture current HD DVD players for some time. A production plant in northern Japan is already confirmed to be shut down.

Following announcements from Netflix and Best Buy to focus on Blu-ray immediately, TG Daily was first to report that Wal-Mart had entered a phase in which it was trimming its HD DVD player portfolio. Wal-Mart soon thereafter announced that it was dropping HD DVD completely. NHK said that almost 90 percent of the Japanese high-definition DVD market has been captured by Blu-ray.

Despite Toshiba is likely to lose hundreds of millions as a result of the lost format war, the company can easily transition to Blu-ray and will be able to roll out Blu-ray players within months, perhaps weeks. The company has covered its bases through Toshiba Samsung Storage Technologies (TSST), a joint venture with Samsung. Samsung has been focused on Blu-ray from the beginning and has access to the latest Blu-ray technologies. Toshiba holds 51% of the joint venture, Samsung the remaining 49%.

If Toshiba withdraws, Microsoft will be under pressure as well. So far, the company has placed its bet only on HD DVD and has offered an external HD DVD drive for its Xbox 360 console. The company will also have to write-off potentially millions in losses and redirect its HD strategy towards Blu-ray. This move could be embarrassing for the software giant at the very least, as it will force the company to concede to Sony's HD strategy and its competing Playstation 3 console.

On the content side, movie studios Universal, Dreamworks and Paramount - the major players among the remaining exclusive HD DVD supporters, are expected to make Blu-ray announcements within weeks. The HD DVD camp does not have any supporters which are exclusively selling HD DVD players or recorders in the PC market.

Was it the initial strategy for Sony to win the console war?? Looks like it was after all!

Hackers Run Retail PS3 Games On HDD

Hackers have figured out how to run retail PS3 games through the hard drive of the PS3, opening up the ability to play PS3 back-ups.

News coming from the hacking scene is that hackers have figured out a way to run PS3 retail game back-ups on the PS3.

They have been able to run them from both the Internal and USB HDD.

The hackers have not yet been able to run a 1:1 copy but have run development copies.

The hope is that they will be able to enhance this further to open up the PS3 hacking scene a bit more.

On PC the short answer is YES! But on PS3 not really, because the game was optimized to display at that resolution and all PS3 are the same. Well, at least it'll be barely noticable if not at all.

The difference is the vg charts figures are consoles shipped to retail by sony. While sony's 11 million figure is actual consoles sold to customers.

So by reducing to 9.5 they have a much more achievable goal.

dudester1981

11 million was the goal. 9.5 million is the forecasting for the fiscal year. Anyways, I think by the end of march it'll be more 10m-ish. And they accomplished that score without any real good game, and that's excellent. Because this year is gonna be different with all the good games coming...
