I know that I'm in the minority, but Dead or Alive is my favorite fighting franchise. Besides being beautiful (and no, I'm not just talking about the ladies in the game, but the scenery) way beyond most comparable games at the time it was released, it does a good job of making characters look like they're actually hitting each other and no just passing through the "hit box" surrounding the character. And the hits look powerful too, especially the ones that destroy the surrounding scenery or knock a character to another level.

The interesting thing to me is that while Nintendo now treats the 3DS as its flagship system (with the most exciting games and announcements), Sony still treats the PS3 as its flagship and the Vita is still the secondary system. I'm glad that they're finally going to get the PS Classics working, but they should have known that not talking about their newest console just months after its US release was a mistake.

I also agree that this game is begging to be ported to the PS Vita. It's a good mobile game and the Vita has the input schemes, screen ratio, and processing power to make it great.

PS -- A 3DS port would also be nice, but I doubt they're going to do the work to make it in 3D, even if it would be too cool.

By "psychology of social media users" he means how many of your dummies will actually pony up several thousand dollars to see what's in the box. And given how skewed net worth is in the world today (e.g. a small proportion of people with more wealth than they could ever use) I'm sure that there is someone who can and will spend $77 grand on a whim. And Molyneux will have made hundreds of thousands off a peek-a-boo app. Hopefully he'll at least use the money to fund a real game.

First off, I suspect that Microsoft will continue to sell the XBOX 360 as an entry-level console even after they introduce the third-generation XBOX as their high-end product.

Second, given the tremendous R&D costs on the XBOX 360 and PlayStation 3, we knew going in that this generation was going to last more than five years. Anybody who thinks that Microsoft or Sony are going to give up on their current consoles just at the point that they're becoming profitable is nuts.

Finally, nobody with any sense is going to announce a year in advance "Hey, we've got a new console coming" and freeze their potential buyers away from 18 months of sales. Not gonna happen. Like one Nintendo exec said, he wishes he could announce his next console the day before it went on sale. Once you announce, you gotta ship, because your existing sales will dry up as people wait for the new console to arrive or the existing console to drop in price.

First, I think the ESA should move E3 to a different city. Frankly, I think they should rotate it between lots of different cities, but since they're not going to do that, they should at least consider moving to somewhere that might actually make it reasonable for gamers in different regions to attend. Forget the crybabies in the industry who act like traveling off the west coast scares them..

Secondly, everybody that is complaining about how "meh" the conference was needs to consider that we've done this to ourselves. We scour our favorite sites looking for rumors and insider scoops about products that haven't been announced yet, but then we whine and moan when the big convention comes and there's nothing left to surprise us. It's our own fault.

Frankly I think we're all so jaded that anything less than two new console announcements would be a disappointment to gamers these days. And even then we probably would have all the details before the first company executive took the stage...

There's obviously some copying of Nintendo's Wii U going on here, but there's also some copying from Apple too.

Microsoft is finally starting to see all their different offerings as part of one universe, and they're trying to make sure that everything -- desktop PCs, mobile phones, tablets, and XBOX 360 -- can be interconnected within the Microsoft ecosystem. Granted, if they had done this earlier, we wouldn't be talking about Apple in the way that we do.

To be honest, this has been one of Sony's biggest failings as well. They have televisions, radios, game systems, and music and movie studios, but they haven't always worked together. Up until recently, there hasn't been any advantage to watching a Sony movie on a Sony TV, and even now, the advantages are largely undone by all the DRM and restrictions that Sony places on their content. If I rent a movie from the PlayStation store, why can't I watch it on my Bravia TV, PS3, PSP or PS Vita?

Anyways, I suspect that going forward, everything that Microsoft does will link to something that they're already doing. And it will be all Metro all the time.

Grand Theft Auto is a defining franchise for the past two console generations. What they managed to accomplish on the PS2 and XBOX hardware...I wouldn't have thought it was possible until I saw it.

Of course, they have used current generation hardware to make the games look better, but I'm equally interested in seeing them use addition computing power to make worlds that are richer and more "alive." That's where the real magic of the GTA franchise is. Here's hoping that GTA V has a worlds that are detailed and full of life. And if it has the breadth and wide-open areas that San Andreas had...wow.

@jsmoke03 The "Follow" button above shows options for PC, XBOX 360, and PS3 versions, so it looks like you're in luck. No Wii U version listed though...bummer.

I was personally surprised at the popularity of the DSi XL. It seemed completely counterintuitive...people have been clamoring for smaller electronics that do more, not bigger electronic devices that have the same capabilities. And making the screen bigger only seemed to emphasize the low graphical fidelity of the DS line.

But people bought it like hotcakes. And in multiple colors, no less.

Shows what I know. So at this point a 3DS XL wouldn't surprise me at all.
