I currently have x2 9800gt 512mb sli and while some stuff is fine, going up in resolution makes them chug right along.
I was looking at spending around 250 to 300, saw the 560 Ti for $249.99 at newegg or I can get 2x 550 Ti for $300 with a $20 rebate card on both from newegg, so only 10 bucks more for the two. I really know close to nothing about which is the better route to go. I like playing games on my tv in 1920x1080.
Also, I don't even know if my comp can handle two 550's. Dell told me I'd be fine but I think he wanted me to buy when I talked to them. I have a Dell XPS 630i with a 750 watt power supply. I don't know if this matters but I also have a intel quad core @ 2.83ghz and 4gigs of RAM.
I'm looking to spend no more than around 275ish and I'm leaning towards the 2x 550 Ti's but like I said I'm almost clueless about what would be better performance wise. I've narrowed down to these two options but any recommendations are welcome. Thanx for any help!

I use my system primarily as a blu-ray player. Just recently started having a problem with the movie pausing and skipping while watching. Usually after about a half hour after watching it pauses then the screen goes black, then I get booted to the xmb. When I click to play the movie again my PS3 loads for about 2 or 3 minutes, then says invalid disc. The only way around this is the remove the disc and usually restart the system, but all that gets me is around another half hour or so until the problem arises again. I have tested multiple blu-rays and they all have this problem so it can't be the disc. I don't play many games on it, just the big name exclusives because I use my 360 as my primary console. The last game I played was infamous around a month ago and havn't played a game since, just a steady amount of movie watching. Is my ps3 drive possibly defective? The system is almost 2 years old so its out of warranty, and I really don't want to call sony to have them tell me to send it out to be fixed for a fee. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
btw- i have the 40gb model, and i turn off my controls while watching(heard they may cause similar problem if on)
thank you very much for your help... i guess i'll just wait until windows 7 arrives and do the clean install. I got it on that early preorder deal for like 58 dollars, otherwise I wouldn't have gotten it at all...heres to hoping its better
I have vista home premium 32bit and was wondering if windows 7 comes with both a 32bit disc and 64bit disc. I recently pre ordered it, home premium version, but I am unsure if I need to update my system now, or if I can just do an install of 64bit when my windows 7 comes? And, if I have to do the upgrade now, any idea of the cost to get 64bit? When I talked to dell they tried to sell it to me but I never heard the price and wanted to check if my Windows 7 upgrade will come with that option to go 64bit? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
hey was just looking through control panel under system after installing system pack 2 for vista and saw that under the processor type is now says:
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU @ 2.83ghz 3.01ghz
it used to say:
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU @ 2.83ghz
what does the 3.01 mean next to the 2.83? i know little about this stuff so i'm confused..any help would be appreciated
