Kudos to Bungie. M$ is really lucky to have these guys behind them.
Shame on M$ for not handling the problem themselves.
Yeah, the connection was the first thing I went to check when this started happening, and it was pretty solid on both ends. I recall something similar happening a while ago, albeit under different circumstances. A roomate brought a pretty sick Benq projector to our house, although it was a couple of years old and also would only do 720p / 1080i. This time, the screen would sometimes black out when playing PS3 games and watching Blu-ray movies when the display output was set to 720p. When I disabled 720p and kept it at 1080i, the problem was solved.
This time, it was on component connectioin, not HDMI.
Kinda weird, imo.
I've been going through and enjoying my PS2 library on my PS3 lately, as I'm trying to save up $$ for rent and the big early summer releases. I got back into playing FF X-2 recently, I've had the game for quite a while but have never completely beat it. It gets almost too cheesy to handle at times, but I'm finding the gameplay pretty enjoyable after getting frustrated with lightning dodging and catcher choke-a-b*tch in FFX.
Anyways, to the point.
I have a crappy Insignia LCD. It gets the job done, however, does 720p/1080i, and has an HDMI input that I use. I'm generally tempted to have it set at 1080i, just because it looks just so darn purty that way. Last night, when I was playing FF X-2, the screen started randomly blacking out on me. The amount of time it would stay black would vary between > 1s to a couple of seconds. Pretty annoying. I switched the display output back to 720p and the problem appeared to be solved.
Anyone have any insight as to what exactly was the problem that I was experiencing?
