I think I enjoy collecting and acquiring video games more than actually playing them. I would say that a good chunk of games that I own are rarely played or have even been played. I used to have a lot more free time on my hand in which to play video games, but now a days that is limited. I get really excited when I find a good deal and get that much closer to the completion of a collection.

Which way do you lean?

I'm sure most of us collect just about any video game we can get a hold of, but what are you currently focusing on in your collection?

I am focusing on US release Dreamcast games at the moment. You can still get these at certain EBgames and Gamestops. I like to buy in bulk when these stores have buy 2 get 1 free sales and use my discount card on top of that for a pretty good savings. This past weekend one Gamestop had a bin of buy 1 get 2 free. I found three games that I didn't have yet.

I also like to pick up current system specific games for GameCube and Playstation 2 at these stores. I mainly play current generation games on my Xbox, so whenever I can I pick a few of these up for cheap I do.

I am slowly building my Sega Master System collection. This is going to be a slow process, since I am trying to get completes with out paying big money.

My largest collection that I'm working on is the US Release games for the NES. 8-bit is way ahead of me on this, but i'll get there someday. I like to buy a big lot of these on eBay and then sell off what I already have to pay for the ones I need for my collection.

I say go with the Photo Album/Commentary threads. I like the idea of just seeing people's collections in one thread.

I would have to say my prized gem right now is a sealed copy of Final Fantasy for NES. A friend gave it to me when I started really getting into collecting NES games. He didn't think it was worth much and thought I would just open it up and play it. Needless to say it is still unopened and will remain that way. I doubt I will ever sell it either since he gave it to me for free.

Right now I am leaning towards only buying completes. Since the entire collection of US release games is rather small it seems the better way to go.

I get a little excited sometimes and just want to buy stuff, but i think it will benefit me in the long run to be patient with this particular collection.

Feel free to chime in with any other thoughts.

I'm thinking of beefing up my Sega Master System collection, but I'm not sure whether I want to only buy completes or just try and get the cartridge. With my NES and SNES collections I'm not real concerned with owning the complete. The boxes are cardboard and don't stay in very good condition when stacked up or shelved. I do try and buy the hard plastic cases for them when I can, but definitely need a lot more. The Master System completes have nice hard plastic cases that do shelve and stack very nicely, but are a lot harder to come buy. Another variable that I'm also considering is the fact that there are a lot less games for the Master System to collect for and therefore may be better going with the complete idea.

What do you all think? Any feedback or suggestions would be great.
