So there was a feature packed 60 GB model for $599 people were not satisfied. So Sony dropped it to $499 and people still were not satisfied. So Sony tried to make it cheaper by dropping BC and put the price at $399 and people are still not satisfied? Moral of the story: There will be people that complain no matter what.chathuranga
I brought my 60GB for $499 I was satisfied. Still am satisfied.

I would say it's one of the best games of this generation.

I think it will. Just don't know when. But I think it will happen this year. Why? Because they want a successful holiday season and they know they can't rip anymore features out of the console. And they know that if they want to sell units they have to slash that loud @$$ price. I say yes, but I don't know when.

Keep it. I say. because trading it in is not worth it. It's worth more keeping it Than getting ripped off by gamestop, or a "buyback"store like it. Only trade in a game you don't like.

Well I called sony customer service earlier today. And they told me that after 2 years the waranty is no good. But,If you have to send in your 60GB PS3 You have to pay a fee of $150 to get it replaced, with the same exact model! Thats not so bad considering that if you wanted to replace it with an inferior PS3 it would cost you $400. Or if you decided to get a brand new cheap model 360($200) I personally would rather the $150 myself.

Well your posting in the PS3 forums so most people will say get the PS3. I say get the PS3 but just like any piece of tech it has it's good and bad moments.

The Good

  • Great exclusive list of titles
  • Bluray-Which is great since your buying a new HDTV
  • Web Browser-Not the best browser but is better than nothing
  • Trophies-If you were into achievements you will like them
  • It is a very sexy console
  • Great to talk to when your down
  • Does not have a huge failure rate

Now the Bad

  • Some game devs don't really respect the PS3. In other words exclusive DLC goes to the 360, game devs don't use the PS3s power
  • The in game XMB is not as nice as the 360's profile
  • It is very heavy
  • No Backwards compatiblity on the newer versions
  • Message Freezing from time to time...It does that to me some times.

All in all the PS3 is a great console for 400 bucks but as I said before it does have it's down side.

Like he said, ecept The only thing he forgot to mention is if you PS3 dies. You have to pay $150 to get it shipped fixed and sent back to you. But spending $150 (after your waranty runs out is better than spending $400, or in the 360's case $200(cheapest model) to get you console replaced. I say get the PS3 just because it has a much longer longevity.

Let me also say this. VHS movies were exspensive when they first were released also.(I mean like $30 - $80) but then prices dropped drastically in like lets say by 1987. DVDs were so bad they retailed at about $25-$60 when they first dropped. then there prices dropped when the cost of the technology went down. The same thing will happen with blu-ray when they become standard.(If they become standard)

They are to me, absolutely. I won't even buy DVDs any more. It's all about the Blu for me.

Blu-ray movies really aren't that expensive if you shop around for them. Walk into Target, Walmart, or Best Buy, and you're going to spend more than you should.

Wait a couple of weeks from the launch of the movie you want and search online where you can easily find brand new, new release Blu-ray movies for $15-$18, sometimes even less. It's all about when and where when it comes to finding great deals on them.

Exactly. You should shop around for blu-ray movies. Online they have good deals and tons of special offers. I just brought the new Hulk Blu-ray for $16 at Bestbuy via online speical offer.

Just wanted to give an update on my situation. Me being so furious with sony I refused to send it in, I instead was busy with school and stopped playing the PS3 all together. Well just the other day I figured why not, i popped a blu-ray movie in and it worked. I was shocked, tried my other discs, and now it works prefectly fine again. Do NOT ever send your PS3 into sony. Im sure they have some money game going on with its customers to try and rake in more cash!

All you have to do is call sony customer service and they send you a new Hard drive caddy with the screws FREE! They did it for me. And take the stripped screws out with computer repare plyers.
