If the referendum actually happens if they are elected as a majority governemnt canada is pretty much screwed because of the fighting the referendum would cause.

Canada would never let them separate, after a quick military victory, it should shut them up.

It is legal to leave the Confederation, I don't think there would be any type of retaliation.
