"Police wear masks and protect their identities after a coordinated attack (led by a white supremacist group called the 7th Cavalry) had them gunned down en masse in their homes.
The war between the police and the 7th Cavalry"
"Cops are no longer able to carry firearms freely and must instead adhere to a strict bureaucratic set of authorizations to allow them to even carry any weapon at all."
I feel like this would be a real short war.
Otherwise, another attempt to get me interested in something that is really only good as a standalone work. I get that there are no new ideas but, much like Before Watchmen, we're once again trying to squeeze blood from a stone.
@Dragon_Nexus: That's kinda what happened with the Fox-Disney feud for a long time. Eventually, Disney finally just grew up and gave a check to Fox and said "Write the amount that you think your entertainment network is worth and we'll pay it." * That's probably what will eventually happen here as well.
*Yes, I know it was more complicated than that but that was the eventual end result.
@gotrekfabian: It's kind of like EA. Some of the hatred is well-deserved but some of it is overblown. Having dealt with other places, Gamestop's buyback/used game selling policies weren't really any worse than places like Entertainmart.
Overall, even if I weren't slowly getting out of gaming, I still wouldn't shed too many tears. Physical media had it's day but that day is over. Gamestop's demise will probably be the final push needed for console gaming to finally join PC gaming in a digital-only medium.
My younger brother still picks up Game Informer whenever he stops by a Gamespot which is kind of off and on. I kinda think that's neat from a nostalgia perspective (By way of reference, he's 43 so that should tell you how long he's been keeping up with it.).
There are a few movies that are a product of their time but wouldn't really work in any other period. The Crow is always my go-to example of this type of movie. Every time I've rewatched it, there is always this little half-smile as I reflect on how well the movie fit into the 90s but how awkward/out-of place it would be if you watched it in any other period.
The Matrix strikes me as a very similar deal. At the very least, the quartet of movies (Yes, I count the Animatrix) pretty much completed the story that the Wachowskis set out to plagiarize. Ultimately, I don't see 4 as anything more than a cynical attempt to squeeze another trilogy out of a story that was more style than substance.
@skippert: The funny thing with Apex is that everyone on Gamespot was applauding the developers because "they stood up to EA and made the game they wanted to make". Now that the game is failing, it was EA's fault from the start.
