The Wii shocked everyone, Nintendo was smart to release a modest system with a cool control scheme for a low price.

The Xbox 360's reliability issues have hurt it's sales and growth for casual gamers, even with the Slim there are issues.

Sony has learned it's less releasing expensive "New" tech in their consoles that drives up the price.

Both Microsoft and Sony's next systems will be much more modest and much more affordable and reliable, there will be less of a graphic jump next generation.

I'm so glad that I picked up a 25th edition Wii for the kids this christmas, I'm also going to pick up DKCR as a present to myself... Oh and the 25th anniversary Mario game coming out next month.

Within the next 6 months or less the Wii will drop to 149 or 129, that will easily push the installed base well over 80 million. 3rd party's have had trouble on Nintendo systems since the N64 simply because the Big N produces such high quality games, usually best in class. I think that 3rd party support will get better in 2011 BUT the Wii doesn't depend on it like Sony and Microsoft.

Aside from a few exclusive titles, the 360 and PS3 have the same darned games... Where Nintendo has a flood of very high quality first party games.

It seems as though the 360 and PS3 are attempting to be "PC Lite", i'm sorry folks but FPS games SUCK on a console controller...

I bought my Wii to play, Mario games, Metroid, Donkey Kong and Zelda, everything else is gravy.

Hello everyone. This is my first post, so go easy on me. I have been reading these forums for quite some years now, and wanted to comment on so many occasions, but have always been too lazy to sign up. However, after reading this latest thread, I couldn't resist any longer. First, let me start off by giving you fellow gamers a brief history of my gaming credentials. I've probably been gaming longer than a lot of you have been alive, not bragging, but just being honest. It always tickles me when some of you say that your first fps was goldeneye. Nothing wrong with that, but it's amusing. I started gaming in the early 80's with the atari 400. I got the Nes in 1985, genesis in 90, n64 in 96, gamecube in 2000, xbox in 2001, 360. wii, and finally a ps3. Those are just the systems i've owned, not to undermine the amount of systems I've played. My point for sharing all of this, is to illustrate that I am a gamer, and I have a deep passion for gaming. Now I used to be the biggest sheep, as I still deem the N64 my favorite gaming console of all time. That system showed Nintendo as a hungry company that also had passion in gaming. Though it used cartridges, it was powerful, while still cutting edge, with mesmerizing titles like majora's mask, turok, banjo kazooie, etc. If u couldn't afford a pc, it would even give you doom, duke nukem, and quake. I loved that system. I absolutely hated the playstation back in those days. Not because it was a bad system, but because I was a nintendo fanboy. Due to my fondness of the n64, of course I had to buy a gamecube, which I also still do truly adore. However, something changed during that generation, as Nintendo lost more third party support, and I couldn't take it anymore. I bought an Xbox. I had become a sheep, lemming, but still vowed to never be a cow, and i still loved ninty the most. Let's get to the topic. Eagerly I storm into this generation with a 360, the wii hadn't been released yet. When it did become available, I lucked out and found one on the first day. Let me put it like this. Only because I still consider Zelda to be my favorite series of all time, is the single reason why I haven't tossed my wii in the thrash, realizing that I have to cut the loss. It's not in the same league as the Hd twins, and that's not trolling, it's the truth. Sheep are delusional! I know this is opinion based, but let's be serious. In a previous reply someone named a bunch of "great" wii games, alot of them that I foolishly purchased. All of the aforementioned titles still do not hold a candle to some of the lesser 3rd party titles that one can find on the 360 or ps3. Oh, and I forgot to mention, that I did become a cow., so now I own all 3 systems. The ps3 is incredible! The 360 is decent, but the Wii is abysmal. I own 20 wii games, and I should only own about 5. Most of the games I will probably not play. That system sucks, and nintendo should be ashamed of themselves for creating it. They have clearly shown that they do not care about the core gamer, the vintage gamer, the polder gamer, or anybody that had a passion for video games. It's extremely underpowered, there are no trophies or achievements, the sound quality is ad, it feels cheap, the games are corny, the motion controls are troublesome. The system is designed for women, children, and people who don't play video games. Yeah, I know it has madworld, mario this and that, metroid, and so on, all of these games I own. Still, those games just don't cut it. They are last generation games. If ninty had made a more powerful system with a few more bells and whistles, I could accept it's shortcomings, but in it's current condition, the wii is a piece of garbage. I've tried to like it, and will continue to buy a few games here and there, but the fact remains that it's a boring gaming machine. The sheep are excited about donkey kong...lol! come on fellas, let's get real. That game should be 20 dollars tops on psn or live. It doesn't necessarily look bad, but at 32 years old, it's not something that I'm going to get excited about. I'm tired of hearing sheep bash hd mature games. Play them, and maybe you'll like them. The immersion and surreal aesthetics capture the gamer. Ninty can't do that with the wii. It's too silly and happy. Even metroid was disappointing. The graphics are awful, killing the experience. Imagine it on a ps3 with move. Incredible. mario a nice game, but uncharted two is too. Enslaved is gorgeous with movie quality presentation. new super mario bros wii is a joke. I'm not paying 50 dollars for a souped up mario bros. I don't even really like the character. I do however like link, so I really hope that they don't ruin zelda. But I stiil can't help but to imagine what it would look like on a real system, such as a pc, ps3, or 360. I hope ninty comes back next generation with power, or I might have to forego my precious zelda. I'll get over it.vintageBliss
