FFXI is quite a fun game. I used to play it, did about 2000 hours, on an Elvaan male character named Zenric on Hades. I completed most missions (I got rank 10 San d'Oria) and quests, gained all summons except Fenrir before I started leveling summoner, and had all jobs 20+, many 30+ with my highest being PLD69/WAR38, had all my skills capped for my jobs, didn't do much with my crafts, my highest was like 40 smithing. The game has some good social aspects with the linkshells which are very fun (so long as you have an active one or more). Leveling up can become a drag and more of a chore at times, but it can also be fun. Sometimes you can get quick experience parties, it's just annoying when you play with noobs (I considered myself a good player). Gaining money is a complete hassle as you have to spend hours farming, and if you're like me you will spend alot of time farming to gain the best equipment that you can for your level and job. There isn't much of a story except for missions and quests, but none of them are really amazing. They normally require you to go somewhere and kill something. You'll basically end up playing the game to get all jobs capped on level 75 and the best equipment, after that there isn't really much to the game. Nothing amazing in the PvP department. I think the best parts of FFXI is the feel of accomplishment from leveling up and equipping your new equipment and learning new spells, or the feel from getting an item you've been hunting for so long for. Other great times are doing missions, quests or killing monsters (such as in a BCNM event) with your linkshell and friends, you will want the expansions for the good quests that require team work with your linkshell/friends, as they will be one of the good points of the game for the duration you start the stories and events in them. An interesting MMO I'm looking at is Huxley, which looks like it could shape up really well so long as they do it right. You can read up on it on GameSpot, it's an FPS/MMORPG (FPS is my favourite game genre).
Tifa 10 : Ritz 0 I've finished both games they appear in, but Tifa is ranked so much higher. She's a much better character in a better story and world, she is also finely detailed in FFVII:AC. Just need her and Cloud to get together now...
Rinoa 10 : Garnet 0 I haven't really played FFIX and I thought Rinoa was a great character anyway, she was also in one of the best FF stories, a love story that worked out, and you just had to love her as much as Squall while you played (if you really got into the game).
