Obviously, yes giving the TVs away is a marketing strategy.  But you guys act like Sony is expecting this to have some huge effect and create a huge buzz for it in Euro/UK.  They know this is just a minor marketing strategy.  It was a nice thing for the fans and created some buzz, I'd say it worked.  Why are you guys so up in arms about it?  Like I said, some fanboys try too hard to find bad things to say about Sony.

I agree with the one guy though that said why stop these threads when most are from PS3 fanboys. Lol, that is true, but I think its also because GS Forums are much more overrun with 360/Wii fanboys.

Its realistic but how many of those years will be good years, not just draggin the system on or "making it better".  With the way things are going I would think its more realistic because they still haven't lived up to expectations and wont for a while.  The first year alone is just trying to make it actual competition.

You guys who say they "bribed" people to buy a PS3, they didn't know they were getting a free TV.  You guys are idiots just trying to find any reason to hate Sony and PS3.

Like the other guy said, if MS did this you'd be praising their generosity and good marketing tactics.  360/Wii fanboys are on a whole other level from PS3 fanboys now.  You guys get to far ahead of yourselves.

Two reasons why PS3s are not in mass chaos like in the US:

1) Supply, 197k for all North America, 1mil for Western Europe.

2) Preorders, Europe/UK had them available while 99% of PS3s in the US were not available for preorder. People are nor gonna go to the store and wait at 12am when they have a preorder.

no if MS did this id make sure i was first in line lol. so, what are you going to be after the PS3 is scrapped, a lemming hermit or a sheep?

Just like I said you 360/Wii fanboys go too far and never use logic. Go ahead with your lame "PS3=failure" type comments and saying that it will be scrapped blah blah blah.

[QUOTE="DLuffy"]They did it get free press. With all the negative press surrounding the PS3 lately, and with so few people lining up to buy PS3's, this was their desparate attempt to get into the news. And apparently it worked as they managed to get the BBC to carry the story.Happyphilter
exacltly, a few TVs means nothing to sony as a whole, they can afford the small gift to try to turn about the image of thier gaming console. I dont think its going to work though, they should work on games, not constalation prizes.

Yeah there whole strategy for the UK Launch is to give away some free TVs in the hopes that it'll magically change their image. Give me a break, they dont have delusions of grandure. They know this wont make any big effect outside of those who got one. Enough with the "focus on games" thing because they have several big exclusives in the works for this year, and you probably dont have a PS3 anyways so I dont know why you're complaining. Btw, they are consolation prizes, not constalation prizes. Their not giving away Orion, or the Big Dipper, or anything.

Yeah I agree, I like a linear story in my RPGs.  I feel like Im accomplishing something when I beat a boss or something because Im advancing the story.  A linear story makes for a better story too.  I like side quests too, but is Oblivion like 75% sidequests and 25% main story?

Three words: Kobe is God.

Seriously though, he is w/o a doubt the best offensive player to ever play the game. He can score from anywhere.  Wilt just dominated the paint, MJ was close but he couldnt make those super far shots or nearly unmakeable ones.

His defense is among the League's best still, has been on the All-Defensive team numerous times including last season.

Although his stats dont prove it, he give amazing assists on par with some Magic-esque dimes.

If the Lakers can remain healthy and get into a good sync CONSISTENTLY like early in the season, they can win a championship, maybe next year or two.

I dont care what people say, MJ may have 3 more rings and many more MVPS, but Kobe is the best player of all time.

BTW, MVP doesnt even mean "Most Valuable Player" anymore.  All it means now is the best player on the best team.  If MVP was taken literally like it used to be, Kobe would have won it at least twice already.

I am thinking of getting Oblivion put I've only really liked JRPGs specifically Final Fantasy.  Is Oblivion only for more American RPG fans?  How many of you like both?  Do you think I'll like it?  I would rent it but Blockbuster sucks and they never have good games in stock.  Can you guys give me your opinions?  Thanks!

The only good news for PS3 owners is that Capcom is "promoting a mulitplatfor strategy" which should mean this has little to do with PS3 sales and that some good 360 Capcom games will go to PS3 as well.

If Capcom makes all their games available for 360 and PS3, this is a good thing.  If 360 gets everything while PS3 gets a little, thats BS.
