Yeah it's pretty messed up. I had an experience along the same lines just yesterday.
My younger brother broke his collar bone during school hours. He was tackled by some jerk while playing two hand touch football and I had to go pick him up. I take him to his doctor and he get a check up some X-rays and its obvious from that point on that he need some sort of repair on his injury. He was send by our physician to see his orthopedic (bone) doctor. Since that doctor was a specialist he takes fridays off early and when he was reached by our physician, he refused to see my brother even though it was an emergency. Our physicians seecretary made a few calls trying to get my brother and orthopedic doctor and after a few hours of trying 4 had turned our requests down to see my brother because they would not accept our insurance.
We finally got a hold of a doctor in the next town over at about 4 p.m He was nice enough to squeeze us in and treat my brother. By the time it was done and over with my brother had an unattended to, broken collar bone for about 7 hours all because doctors wouldn't accept our insurance policy. Before we went on that search we checked in with and orthopedic doctor next door to our physician and the ortho himself turned away my brother even after seeing my brother sitting there in pain with a swollen neck and shoulder. I thought being a doctor was about helping people?
Anyways, we need some serious reform. People are suffering without need; only because these giant, corporate insurance companies wanna make some bank. Hurray for capitalism!

LOL no. I go to one of the biggest medical universities in the US and let me assure you that the vast majority of pre-meds and med school students are in it purely for the money and prestige.
do you know why many doctors oppose health care reform? less money for them. I am going to apply for med school next year, let me say money is nowhere near the top on my list of reasons for my career aspiration. prestige, maybe :PDont doctors have to take the hippocratic oath? Doesnt that state they are obligated to help someone in need regardless of the money and they they must do everything in their power to help? I could be wrong cause im not a doctor. Either way this is terrible im glad Obama wants to put in a healthcare system but all the big companies are trying to stop him. Does anyone think its going to pass?
