everyone has thier opinions between amd and intel. this means there is not a huge difference between the two. therefore, im buying a 4200 for socket 939 and waiting a year to upgrade everything when the processor race reaches true next gen dimensions

(and when the price goes lower, lol)

[QUOTE="tigerballer"]

wats the k8L gonna cost, like 800 bucks? rediculous

im willing to shell 100-150 for a processor and spend the big bucks on a graphics card, which is the real powerhorse of the setup

but you guys can go spend your savings away

Flame_Co

Well, go for the AMD X2 5200+ or a AMD X2 4800+ windsor, they're both good for a lot less than intel.

ive got socket 939

so i was gonna get the 4200, which is there best processor still available

Careful.., the PSU is the component that powers your whole system. Wouldn't risk buying a cheap/never-heard-of-brand for your computer. Get this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341002

dont need 700 W

[QUOTE="tigerballer"]will the r600 requiere 8-pin connectors are can it still use the standard 6 pin?jfelisario

you can still use the 6 pin, but apparently you can't use the overclocking overdrive feature if you don't use the 8 pin, besides that 8 pin provides more juice than the regular 6 pin.

are there any 8 pin power supplies out there right now?

yep:
