I think we all read the article wrong, i don't think ATI is releasing these cards as the new "top contenders" - but as cheaper alternatives to compete 8800 series. The new 55nm manufacturing will let ATI sell these cards at a pretty low price - but performance wise judging by the benchmarks and the fact that the 2900XT uses 512-bit memory. Nonetheless, it still looks like nvidia cards perform better, although i am an ATI fan-boy myself (cause they're canadian)...
Seems with all the real and possible hardware / driver problems, not to mention no DX10 games yet ;-) sounds like a good idea to wait a bit. Sure Vista has some extra window dressing, but really for gamers, DX10 is the *only* real reason to upgrade to it. p.s. anybody see those latest mac ads? allow, deny...hilarious. If only macs ran pc games, and didn't cost 2 million $$$!!!
Hey guys, i need some info from you serious tech-heads. I just bought an ATI X1900GT PCI-E...i'm planning to buy a Dell Dimension 9200 (so i can use the card). I'm a bit worried, the manual says the computer should have a 450watt+ power supply and a 12v special connector. Now the connector i'm sure it has since it has a PCI-E x16 slot, but 450watts? This dimension 9200 only has 375watt, and most of the dell machines i looked all have 375watts - so i'm really confused, do i have to get a 450 watt supply just to run this video card? Thanks for any help!
