Agreeable points, but you didn't mention anything good about it. This is no great game by any means, but it does things right like skyhooks and overall world. Mention the good and the bad, the game's not a 4 its a 6. All the analytical elements were there, but they didn't really connect the pieces. The whole thing about baptism in the begging, through blood, and so on not to mention elizabeth's development into a woman. Those things worked, but the overall themes did fail to connect. I believe this does more than the vast majority of games, but its failures really keep it down to about a 6. The critique above I think does the overall game justice to focus in on all the bad things about the game while providing analysis into the why. Check it out it's worth viewing.
@craigstealsheep @tiopuit While she didn't write much about it it was clearly a deciding point in her score. I agree that gta 4 clearly had a stronger perspective on women, i think that went along with an overall theme of tolerance throughout the game, but this game moreover really stands to take a hit at the american dream, showing what the society turns these women into. Amanda is a housewife, and though she stands to amplify michael's character, i think she also shows a loss of self. That this housewife not only took on the socity, but enveloped herself in it and fully embraced it sins and all. This game obviously isn't a stand on feminism, but i certainly wouldn't say its sexist, as much as anything else in the game at least. I respect your point though.
I take no issue with your score, because there are ways to justify the game as a 9, but taking your own viewpoint as a feminist has no reason to involved. Having played through the game I attempted to see where your evidence lies, but I found little. This is not a game about women and this is not a game just about men; this is a game about people and society as a whole. The game does not blatantly rip on women, if anything it rips on men. Look at these bastards, they're terrible people! They exacerbate all the qualities of men from their upbringings. From macho to gangster. Women are shown to be stereotypical housewives and whores, but that's because this game shows the worst qualities of everyone and creates a world that shows us these brought to the extreme. Don't take it as an insult, take it as a standpoint. Maybe this is saying women ARE stuck in these stereotypes and they should be everything opposite these people. Don't take your own standpoints to affect the score, yeah?
