Another Lemming that think XBL invent the internet.

They did invent universal voice chat and friends lists (xfire came out after XBL) , gamer cards, and achievements. They are also pioneers in downloadable movie/TV content. Thats not the point anyway. They are the only service to have all those things which makes the whole package unique. Its more then just the sum of its parts.

There is this thing call AOL, it sucks but it sure does offer voice chat and friend lists. A profile original ? Keeping score have been out since the beginning of game. Download movie and tv content (this is new?). They might be the first to put console online together, but it's NOTHING innovative (a strip down version of internet should I say?)

The Home idea is not new either, but it copy the Internet (myspace, youtube, IM, etc etc.) and at least it represent the Web 2.0 age.
Only Lemming thinks other company like Sony need to look at XBL for ideas.

[QUOTE="tranhgiang"]Pure publicity stunt.

Sony have the hype train going,
Kotaku names are repeated everywhere.

I don't see anything bad for both of them.
Dreams-Visions
if you can point out what either company gained, then I'll consider this a "publicity stunt". show me just ONE THING they got other than one night of discussion that will have been forgotten about tomorrow :|

For Kotaku, obviously they are a news site, so getting the NEWS OF THE DAY award is beneficial.
For Sony, this bring up the expectation for the upcoming GDC (im totally looking forward to it). They got the hype up before actually release any detail (if it's true then it's good for them, if it's fault then it's not).

One night, one day of discussion might seem nothing for you. But News site, News paper are all about One day, one night headlight, frontpage.

Again, coming from Kotaku (well, not exactly originate there, but w/e)

http://kotaku.com/gaming/ps3/ps3-getting-dvd-upscaling-240896.php

For those that's lazy:

Considering there's been "other" Sony-related goings-on today, this has slipped under the radar a bit.

In concluding his marathon interview with N'Gai Croal, Phil Harrison let slip that the PS3 was soon going to feature DVD upscaling.

I think in order to engender trust in our users, we have to share some things that might be not quite perfect, but are ready to give you an indication of what's coming. So we could say, "You know, we're not sure when it's coming, but we're going to have DVD upscaling on Playstation 3." There you go. There's a scoop for you.

Might just be me, but if it's true and not just there to "engender trust", I like. A little spit and polish on the perfectly-fine DVDs I already own will do me just fine, thank you very much Blu-Ray.

IS TODAY AWESOME OR WHAT ?

I feel rumble adds absolutely nothing to the experience, other than damaging the nerves in my wrist and causing general discomfort.

However, I am glad it will eventually be an option for those who MUST have it, the more PS3 owners the merrier. KeyWii

Don't worry, from now on you can always turn it OFF. :D
Rumble have many different purpose you know.
Let say one night you feel lonely...

Here come the Damage Control from the lemming.

Rumble + Motion Sensing > Motion Sensing or Rumble alone, that's common sense.

The idea of Home sound freaking awesome, design your own Home asĀ  a kind of avatar, with music, videos, picture etc.. is a freaking good idea. Truely web 2.0

I could careless about the achievement or trophies as decoration part (wouldn't mind playing some GT to park a Ferrari in my Home tho). Playing game to decorate your virtual house, now that's f**king GIMMICK, and I LOVE IT :P

Feel so hyped all of a sudden :D Probaly because of rumble.
