I'd have to say Pirates! I loved the original and new one really had no new inovative features. Just boredom. Also I thought Rise of Nations licked ball$ eventhough I couldn't wait to play it. And lastly Age of Empires III. Talk about a crappy return to a great series!

I have the 226 BW and am very happy with it. The reason to get it over the LG is the viewing angle. Samsung is much better there. Other than that they are very comparible

Nice I was waiting for a few ATI FB's to come into the discussion. I never said the card is a bad card. I like amd/ati a lot as a company (my old rig is still sitting with a 3000+ and 9800 pro). My whole arguement revolves around people saying this was card was totally going to crush the 8800 and the leaked benchmark stories. The card is good solid competition... which is good for the gamer. It is no uber card like the 8800 GTX was when released. It is instead a good solid card....

Now if the 2900 xt was first to come out.... maybe it would be considered an uber card. As for heat my gtx is at 71 C 2900 xt upwards of 80 or more. Not a problem unless you overclock. THe game bundle makes it a tempting offer for the price, but I would wait and see a bit longer.

Flame away. Lets see. Most of what I said is true. It is loud, hot, and requires a bit of power. It is unstable in many test, probably due to drivers. (8800 dirivers areen't much better... I know). the 8 pin thing will require a new PSU for most. The card wasn't any kind of leap. All valid points. Yet still it will be a good $400 card.

They built a pretty good product. The 2900 xt beats the 7 month old 8800 gts in most games especially at lower settings. THe 2900 xt has hdmi which is nice; a really good memory controller, and good video playback. All this for $400 bucks. Honestly if I was in the market for a mid-high range card this would probably be it (beating out the 8800 gts... which is a very good card).

I have just a couple of problems with this card and can breath a big sigh of relief, being a 8800 GTX ownerI waited for this card for some time, but after the feburary delay I couldn't wait anymore. And I didn't really miss anything. First this is no uber card. It is way late, and only bests the competiion by a little. Second the power required will hurt some potenial buyers, but more so the 8 pin connector which almost nobody has. Thirdy the heat is extremely high, thus heating up the rest of your system. Fourth the fan is supposedly really loud.

My last reason gets its own paragraph. Many reviewers complained about the XT not performing well with texture intensive games. The reason is simple, while it has really fast bandwith for memory, it has horrible texture filtering. Look if you don't believe me. THe GTX is almost twice as fast in this very important catagory.

The GTX is still a faster card in almost every application and now only costs about $530-540. It is still the best buy for the high end crowd (the ultra is a joke). The 2900 has some pros and cons, but would have been a really competive card in 2006. Too bad we are halfway through 2007. I wonder what the future will hold with the 2900xtx. This will be delayed until they can bring the heat down I am sure. WHo knows if ATI (or should I say AMD) might pull it off. THe XTX could be a high res monster... I don't know about you, but I am not waiting to find out. Back to playing SupCom maxed...

Nice choices all around. I still never understood Rise of Nations. Great building, horrible combat. Still I am going to add one I haven't seen on this board.

Blitzkrieg (with expansions)

Good old slow-going tactical RTS game

I have always played computer games since maniac manson, dune 2, monkey island, C&C. But the game that made me buy my own PC and become really into PC gaming was Half-life. It was so much better than anything on any machine up until that point. It is still a good game today,

~ $1800 for this:

e6600

8800 GTX OC

2 gb muskin 4-5-4-11

250 GB WD Drive

G5 laser mouse and keyboard

Vista Premium

Raidmax Smilodon case

MSI 965 Platnium

lite on DVD-RW

Thermlake 600 W PSU

SB X-Fi

And some other little things. That was two months ago. I could do it today for probably $1600 or so with some of the price drops.
