TC, no offense to you, but there are over 600 denominations of Christianity, all with different beliefs. Not to mention more than half of OT is Atheist. You'd have gotten a more straight-forward answer if you went to a nearby college and asked a religious professor or even going to a nearby church and asking. GHlegend77But asking the TC can be so much fun!

Yes, I have always found it constructive to not pick and choose which part of the Bible I believe in. Probably why I'll never be a deist.Imo, picking and choosing has been partly beneficial to society. It may be considered hypocritical (and quite reasonably) but I like the results so I am ok with it.[QUOTE="twitchmonkey399"]
[QUOTE="Teenaged"]I am not trying to tell you that you shouldnt believe whatever it is you believe because your beliefs cant be proven or that the Bible (if literal) disagrees with you.
Its more of a personal issue. Its about what I feel comfortable doing.
As it is, I dont have (the way I see it) compelling reasons to believe the Bible and the general feel of it supports me.
Furthermore to me a religion is much more than just scripture: its the people and the consensus (if we can find one) among its believers on basic things.
Christianity doesnt represent me. For one I find the idea of the original sin very insulting because it pretty much states that everyone is born evil (unless I am taking it too far).
Of course for every specific belief found in the Bible there will be a group of Christians that dont adhere to it. But that tendency to easily discard parts of it can easily lead to deism. I might as well be a deist in the end.
But when I say I would hate God I am obviously talking about the Christian God, not the largely undefined god of deism.

Deism isnt what actually when one is a Christian/Muslim etc but pick and choose which parts they like out of their holy texts. Deism is based much more on personal opinion and feelings.
When did I say picking and choosing was not beneficial to society? I don't remember expressing an opinion on that topic. I know what deism is. You yourself said that the tendency to easily discard i.e. pick and choose can easily lead to deism. It would follow that one who doesn't pick and choose is less likely to become a deist.[QUOTE="twitchmonkey399"][QUOTE="Remmib"] Reality check for all of the delusional people in this thread.Remmib
You can give a reality check i.e. your opinion without belittlement.
Lol at calling what I said an opinion. I only tell the facts son. Again, you are wrong. Facts themselves carry no malice. You have brought the latter into the discussion, in any case.I am not trying to tell you that you shouldnt believe whatever it is you believe because your beliefs cant be proven or that the Bible (if literal) disagrees with you.[QUOTE="VisigothSaxon"]
No one can garauntee their take is correct. Even the notion that homosexuals can't go to Heaven is no more likely than mine. Mine is clearly more logical and more like what God would do. Wouldn't you agree? This argument is nothing more than beliefs and speculation because nothing is for certain. I will believe what I wish because it guides my life, I feel good about it, I know that this is as close to the truth as I will get or I will be able to fathom. There is not much I can say, and I know that no one here holds my same beliefs, but that will not stop me from believing it.

[QUOTE="ice144"]I'm the TC, and I barely understand what exactly people are arguing now lol.VisigothSaxon
Basically whether or not God exists... Did you get all your questions answered btw?
Shoot! You beat me to the punch. Well, now there's two of us here to help him. That's better than one, right?I'm the TC, and I barely understand what exactly people are arguing now lol.ice144As I noted above, yes, we are a bit distant from the original topic. By the way, did you get a satisfying answer to what you were looking for before this happened?
And I already have one problem with yours. The very first video clip I'm shown is a dark, blurry image, like I was describing before. *Sigh* But I'll trust you, and I'll see what they have to say, as well.[QUOTE="twitchmonkey399"][QUOTE="hartsickdiscipl"]
I'll check it out. I already have one problem with it though.. it refers to UFOs as a "modern phenomenon." That's not even close to true. I'll watch it to see what they have to say.

If in fact the E.T.'s are here, they must be incredibly advanced, right? Why would anybody think that we would be able to get a bunch of perfect photos and videos of them? To me it stands to reason that they would have a level of technology that would be able to elude photography at least the majority of the time. If we're seeing them, I tend to think that in most cases it's because they allowed it.
The problem with this 1996 show "Where are all the UFO's?" is that it starts right off the bat by claiming that the whole thing started in the late 1930's. That's not true, and it totally ruins the whole premise that the show seems to be built on. They're trying to use human psychology to explain it away, when in fact there are physical implants that have been found in "abductees," made of materials not of this earth, and sometimes found to be transmitting a signal.
I'll watch parts 2 through 9 tomorrow. Even though I think the show is very outdated and missing some critical information straight away.
As I said, I didn't care for much of the beginning. The human psyche is just another thing to look into in this very interesting topic. Lest you forget, I am undecided in this matter. In regards to E.T.'s presence on earth, I'm not asking for "a bunch of perfect photos and videos of them." Just one would be nice. Lastly, I too will finish the documentary suggested to me later. It's rather late. Forgive the choppiness of my writing style. I'm not usually like this...
