My 360 crapped out on me last night and I got the dreaded 3 ring RROD. I was on the final boss in my game too so I'm pretty pissed! I have a ton of downloads and saves on my 250 gb HD that I don't want to lose. I really don't want to fork over $299 for a new console either. So my questions: 1. Can you transfer data from an old model Xbox 360 HD to the new model? 2. Are the new models very reliable? This is my 2nd 360 to crap out, and I'm freaking sick of shelling out more $$$ for lousy hardware. 3. Is the 4GB cheaper model a good option? From youtube, it looks like I would have to crack open the cases with special tools and insert my old HD in this new model. Is that fairly simple? Can you download anything to the 4GB? I've just purchased a lot of DLC that I haven't played and don't want to lose that along with all my Mass Effect saves! 4. I heard some stores will do a data transfer for you. Is this true?
The year is nearly half over, and 2012 is shaping up to be one of the worst years in recent memories for gaming. For, starters, there has been a extreme lack of games, and even more so, quality games. We are nearly half way into the year, and so far, only two games have received AAA type praise, Max Payne 3 and Mass Effect 3. And even ME3 gave us a sour taste with an awful ending, and more stripped down options than ME2. It's hard not to feel disappointed. I was expecting a game on the level of ME2 and then some. But we still have a lot of year left with lots of great releases, right? I wish, but the release schedule looks bone dry, and more releases keep getting pushed into 2013 which is downright depressing. After May, gamers will have a three month drought until the big hyped titles start coming in. And that's assuming no more delays! The entire summer will consist of only three major titles. Inversion, Lollipop Chainsaw and Anarchy Reigns. Not much excitement there. Even more sad, after the typical summer drought, the deluge of games won't be happening. Less than a dozen big releases between Aug - Dec. And almost all of them are sequels. can thank COD and AC for chasing off all the competition. No one is willing to take a change with a new IP or get ouf ot the FPS genre these days. :( Then there is the PS Vita. A strong start in Feb, and then it fizzled out. I'm sure it's a great system, but there are just no games. I'm not going to spend $250 to have a portable port of PS3 games. I'm hoping that E3 will hold some nice surprises and perhaps new game annoucements for this year, but I wouldn't bet on it.
I was just wondering today if a game like Bioshock would stand the test of time graphically. Could Bioshock ever become an eyesore? I think so as future tech will produce textures with incredible detail. Bioshock would come off looking blurry or smuggy by comparison. Heck, I never would have thought Oblivion could ever be outdated as it was just gorgeous when it came out, but the character models are awful by today's standards.
