@Aria1368 How is Halo ANYTHING like a COD clone? Unlike COD and BF3, the Halo games have always had one of the most unique experiences, in terms of setting, plot, artwork, and gameplay.
@PatSon13 "Almost" is a relative term. The original Halo trilogy had games set three years apart, so we could likely be looking at a 2015 release date for H5. And yeah, by 2015, it's pretty much guaranteed that MS will have new hardware on the market.
Good to know some people still cater to the hardcore audience.
Gears games have provided a decent challenge on Insanity, although they're certainly nothing close to Dark Souls. The problem with shooter games that have checkpoints, though, is that there is almost nothing to lose by dying. The reason Dark Souls is challenging is because every step you take is a gamble that might result in a large EXP/currency loss. Non-rpg shooters can't use that mechanic.
The annoying thing about "difficult" shooters is that they usually resort to using character fragility as a challenge mechanic. While this makes the game more fun 90% of the time, there are always points where the game just feels plain cheap. The Raam fight in GOW1 always irritated me, because I felt that getting damaged was literally inevitable, and surviving was a crapshoot. I really hope Cliffy can find a way around that, though I have my doubts.
