@suicidesn0wman: "All this really tells you is that if you enjoy Assassins Creed games, you'll enjoy this one."
While I would agree with this assessment for any other sequel, AC takes franchise fatigue to a whole new level, where even diehard fans are jumping ship.
As always, though, the numbers remain meaningless, and it's really all about the context given by the written review.
@RogerioFM: You'll get to find out in a month, they delayed the PC version.
I wouldn't expect miracles, though - though Syndicate has dialed down the crowd sizes and visual flair, Unity had stutters and framedrops that were downright unexplainable. There's a good chance that whatever is wrong with the engine has not been fixed.
@Bread_or_Decide: Objectively, I wouldn't even say that MGSV stealth is THAT great. It feels great, but only because the guards are blind, deaf, dumb, and slow to react. Snake feels like a superhero in comparison, which makes for an admittedly fun stealth power fantasy. MGSV does have much better freedom of approach, though.
It's just like Destiny, where the auto-aim gives you headshots every time, making every player feel like a badass. As a result, everyone praises the shooting mechanics, even though objectively they are nothing special.
@Bread_or_Decide: ....Which is why it got the high scores that it did. Ignoring the side content actually makes for a better experience. The main missions are actually really excellent, but the side content and base building become tedious as fvck.
@justbefahad: While I did not enjoy Journey quite as much as Kevin did, I understand why that game got a ten. It had a vision and it executed upon that vision perfectly.
@Xristophoros: The story definitely feels half baked; what solidified it for me is how mission 46 just pops out of nowhere, with no lead-up or discussion, or any sense of resolution afterwards. Feels very un-Kojima-like.
The moment-to-moment gameplay is excellent, too, but I feel like the open-world structure ultimately ends up hurting the game more than helping it. Traversing it becomes tedious after 50 hours, and the extremely generic side ops (Eliminate tank unit 12!) feel ripped straight from an Ubisoft product. It's a much less focused final product than the traditional linear MGS experiences.
The first ten hours or so of the game were incredible, though. Shame that it starts to fizzle out afterwards.
