@R4gn4r0k: Not quite. Helldivers remains more popular than fallout 76 in the same timeframe, but Helldivers at it's lowest player count (around 6:am) was lower than Fallout at it's peak. Kudos to them for that.

@kvallyx: Ooh, my first reply.

Anyway yes, Helldivers is indeed below COD now in users. Overly optimistic of me to pit it against three combined COD properties. lesson learned.

Still above any other Major Microsoft IP both currently and in same timeframe that I am aware (in terms of steam users).

Helldivers is declining, no doubt about that. what I am curious about it when it will plateau. I would reserve the term "plummet" for a purely vertical drop to little-to no users. It is a little too soon to judge whether Helldivers decline is natural or a freefall.

Of the ones I have owned?

Atari 2600 (Trust me it was ancient when I got it, something my parents bought in from second hand marketplace).

Earliest gaming memories are playing pitfall and pole position, or some knockoff thereof. Still had a lot of fun.

But then I jumped straight from that and gameboy to PS1 so yeah.... stark difference.

Nice.

I can't believe no one else said that (well, @NoodleFighter commented on the lack of it).

Also, First.

Maybe this is just too much of a low hanging fruit.

Never been that much into tv shows, too much time for too much filler. Same reason I rarely 100% open world games, just complete the campaign and any extra activities I have fun doing.

So I have not watched either Last of Us or Fallout, played both.

How does the MS's newest major Game adaptation compare to Sony's? I found some info on Last of Us's viewership:

https://apnews.com/article/last-of-us-hbo-streaming-ratings-viewers-2aa8b0e3fff83f3e87cf3c184ec4da4c

I could not find any viewership sources for Fallout to compare, not even premier viewers. If anyone finds any I would love to see.

There is this site - https://televisionstats.com/s/fallout - Which over a more vague "engagement score" to compare.

Last of us appears to track above Fallout, maxing out the engagement score with each episode. Fallout fares worse, apparently reaching 180 score in its first episode.

In short, I don't think fallout matched LOU's premier of 4.7 million viewers, but could possibly catch up in total viewers over time due to a wider audience and larger platform.

The last of us has not been dethroned, yet.

Hiya, new guy here.

Can't post images until I have 5 posts but turns out you can compare activity in SteamDB, including aligning by launch dates

https://steamdb.info/charts/?compare=553850,1938090&release

Against even Call of duty (which counts MW2,3 and WZ), Helldivers is doing very well, missing the 500k peak but holding over 400k for a longer period.

As long as HD plateaus around the 100/200k mark I think it will be fine, it is trending slightly above COD in activity from peak onwards.

On topic, something that has not been included in this discussion, Fallout 76 is not only on sale for 80% off, as Davillain indicated, but also currently free, ending in a few days time.

In light of this, not sure how much this increase in activity will actually benefit Bethesda and Microsoft, depend on who sticks around after the promotion.
